Live from the stand 2021

Got to see a doe go after a bobcat - a first for me. Lots of deer this afternoon - just not the right one.

About six years ago I was hunting in the creek bottom of my old place watching two does and two fawns eating wheat. All the deer heads came up and I got ready for a hog or a coyote to come out. It was a bobcat. It trotted across the plot and went into the woods on the other side with the biggest doe following it. I could see a little commotion going on through the trees and directly the bobcat came hauling out with the doe on his six. She chased it back the way it came. It was so funny I laughed out loud and scared my deer away !:)

That’s interesting that you and I have both seen it happen.

I watched a bobcat climb the ridge near me last weekend, first I’ve seen in person although we see a lot of them on trail cameras.

About a half hour after he topped the ridge I heard a deer blowing like crazy. At first I thought it was me but the wind had been consistent. She came my way a few minutes later and on high alert. I’m sure the bobcat was to blame.

They are fawn predators, so it makes sense.

Not a great pic but this is one of our 3 year old 10 points shifting positions after a hard rain lightened up. I think he laid down under one of those cedars.

There is a video that was going around early this year of a Bobcat or coyote, but if I remember right it was a Bobcat, that had caught a Rabbit and it was squealing. Then a Doe comes charging out and puts the hoofs to it.

The Doe chases it away and the Rabbit gets up and runs off.

I would love to see that. If anyone has the link please post.

One doe fawn. Edit: I thought it was a fawn, probably a yearling. Another came out at the far end of my plot and joined the first one. I’ve seen yet a third running through the woods in thick brush. Pretty sure a buck is after her but he hasn’t shown himself yet.1FB6A74C-A8B8-4EB4-879F-E6C5AA3EA84D.jpeg

Back at the ol home place again. Taking advantage of another NW wind. A young 8 met me on the way in. Fortunately he was clueless and kept on his merry cruising way and I got in clean. Buddy shot a nice 2 year old a mile south of here this morning. Need the right doe to pull the right fella by.

I wound up only seeing the three does. I did see some hogs but only their backs as they were just over a drop in the trail I was looking down.

I really don’t have a clue how many deer I saw. A bunch, but I’m sure most were repeats. Saw 7 different bucks, ALL one year olds.:D
