Live from the stand 2017

In the stand this morning. Hunting a major scrape line that connects a bedding area to my main food plot. The spot also intersects 3 main trails. Middle of November and temps in the 60's this early morning with mosquitoes buzzing around. Not ideal conditions but a man gotta hunt when a man can hunt.

Green leaves on the trees! That's long gone for me. Snow all night tonight, it'll make for a great hunt tomorrow

Took my daughter out for her first ever hunt. We didn't see anything but she didn't care. She loved it! We took our orange off once we got settled in the blind.

Dang doc! How cold is it there? It's 69 here...

1 shot heard at 6:40 a long way off. As I mentioned already I awoke to 69 degree temps and a strong SW wind. According to weather channel it is supposed to rotate from NW soon, drop 20 degrees, and be up to 35 mph wind. Tough conditions for sure. I am sitting in a bottom between mountains to try to stay out of the wind as much as possible....

In the low to mid 20's starting to lay a bit. Been a windy bugger, I didn't hunt this morning.

It wasn't that bad in ETex this morning, but bad enough. SW winds and warm. There were eight hogs in the plot when I scooted in behind my stand in the cart. I have a pretty good screen of brush and hogs being about half blind, they never saw me. I got two lined up, and touched the .280 off. I hope I put a bullet in the second one too, but I'm not sure.

I saw zero deer by 10:00 am, and went home. It's supposed to be in the forties tomorrow, so I have another place in mind. Maybe........

Yep calm to start, seen11 deer, 3 nonshooters, then wind kicked in across the ridge. I don't sit in a tree in those winds, too many stories I have to tell. 32 and snow tomorrow but still 40+ winds. Gun season starts Mon, guess I'm screwed this year for bow, now rethinking a couple I passed. O well.

Weather really didn't cooperate......warm and windy....very windy. We did see deer, but no shots taken.....always tomorrow!

Got a young coyote this morning.



Sat in the trusty hay bale blind this evening. Saw a spike. It was warm and the neighbor started riding his 4 wheeler all over his property just at primetime. That may have affected things.

Windy today. Hunted hard and never had anything happen bow season. Shot one of our mature bucks this evening. Not one of the bigger racks but he’s mature. Short legged deer. Biggest neck of any deer I killed.
