So dogghr, what were your findings on the logging and movement? I've heard that it doesn't affect them much and I might be getting logging done here shortly so kinda curious what to expect. No shots taken. Just wasn’t feeling it. Wanted to mainly see how/if logging affected movement. Dozen deer around and under my stand including 2 bucks one nice 8. But it’s only doe w rifle these couple days. Probably should’ve brought the bow. Nothing moved until 9:30.
Fun to watch your scent control work even if I do use very little consideration of such.

Yea, a logging thread would be a great idea! It’s been a pleasant surprise. I didn’t want it this way but it’s been imputing find a logger for 100 ac last 5 years. They want 500-1000 ac before they talked to you.
Got lucky and got to know this logger. He came in from another job and has been awesome. Very minimal roads. Clean skidding. He agrees with the trees I want cut and the mature ones I want left. Love it.
As for deer I’ve been in mainly watch mode seeing how they react.
They move more mid day. They are relaxed. I think they adjust to having people around. I’ve passed several bucks so far just to observe and except for one big 10 I doubt I’ll shoot his year. And he probably gets a pass. And I have new neighbors that are on the same page as me w bucks.
And WO is thru the roof on price but RO is way down. But I’ll prob see 6 figures in my pocket by the time we done w a selective cut. I should start a thread I suppose.

I was in the Logging Timer Business for several years as a young man.
I can tell you there were many times In would be running that LOUD Skidder in and out for logs and the Deer would just stand there and watch me go past.
Never Had it happen to me, but my Dad told of times when the Feed and Browse was slim pickings, that he had Deer stand there waiting for him to drop a tree and would be eating on the Tops before he finished cutting the logs out of it.
Went ahead and created an official logging thread.Yea, a logging thread would be a great idea!

You have a lot of up and down there 21. That would be tough for this old man to negotiate !

It’s roughly 800’ elevation gain from the truck to that spot. I don’t hunt that ridge often but the view sure is nice!
