Live from the Stand 2018

Pinesap, I/m sorry to read of your job event and oh what crummy timing! Your butt has definitely been kicked and you have every right to be furious but furious can be a good thing that can give us great strength and even wise and calm thinking as well. It is great that you are over being negative, now take that furious feeling, don't let it go and use all of this furious energy to figure out and make bold steps to doing something else great. I can remember when having a job meant a job for life, it worked both ways then; one had what was called job security. Today that of course is not so; the only job security one can have comes from within ones self.

And if in the stand is where you can think the best then spend lots of time there. Figure out all of your major strengths and resources, friends, and business connections. And when you think of something you want to do, think of a way to make it happen and to do it greater and better than anyone else right from the start and then even do it better than yourself.

Dogghr, Drycreek, myself and probably everyone on this forum is rooting for you. We just know you will do well with this challenge thrown at you. Best of luck in your new adventure!

Junky I’ve been there too. Had finally found my Dream Job after years of searching and was honestly happy there.

They fell on hard times in the industry and I used my knowledge of the product to help them do a total re-design. They took my hand drawn designs and did them in AutoCad and claimed them as their own.

I had other employees telling me I saved the company and I would never lose my job.

Then the owner sold the rights to build that product to another company for a huge sum of money and they came and took everything even the fixtures we had made.

Worse part was I was left go too. Eventually just about all of us did but since my department was one of the first in the line I was one of the first left go.

I felt betrayed. I wanted revenge. I, as you said, thought of ways to pay them back permanently.

I held it for years. It wasn’t until, like you, I was in a Deer Stand and had been there for hours with no action that finally my thoughts returned to that day. I realized that they had long ago forgot about me and the only one I was really hurting by holding on to the hate was me.

I left it go that day. A weight lifted off of me. I won’t say at times those thoughts never return, but each time they are easier to beat.

Move on with your life. There is a better purpose for you, see it before it’s to late. Wish I had.

...no great stories to tell. But, the older I get the more I appreciate the autumn fireworks slowly unfolding before my eyes! I always treasure the pictures of your views taken from your stand locations, be they high in the air or flat on the ground! This year, our colors are hiding somewhere. I hope they arrive. Without them, everything seems to be out of balance. And, we've had so much rain this year the food plots have failed. The water you see in the pictures below might look like currents in a stream, but it's the field road. We had our sixth downpour and flooding this past Friday evening. I hope it stops before the snow season gets here!
Best of luck everyone!

Beautiful morning in the woods sit with rubs in sight and a consistent light breeze and sunshiny skies. Eight does (three groups) came by but zero buck sightings, still-hunted out, saw a fourth doe group very close.

Skunked this morning so I came in to eat lunch and check the sighting on the muzzleloader which opens on Sat. Headed back out soon to sit until dark.

In the same stand I was in last Mon afternoon when I had a bunch of does and fawns come in and feed under me. Hopefully this time one of them has a nice buck tagging along.

Opening day of ML. I was tempted to hunt the lower 20 this morning but I'm gonna give it a few days longer so I'm in the "bridge" stand again. A rain front came through last night so I'm hoping they'll be on their feet.

Live from the stand!!!

Opening day of youth season today!! My oldest came to me Thursday and asked when he could go hunting. I lit up like a Christmas tree. I can hang up my bow for the rest of my life as long as I can take my kids or my wife hunting. Trying to get it all on film this morning since he's been trying to do his own kid blog. We're in a ground blind overlooking the 80 acres we just had clear cut. Really need to be in an elevated stand but we can see all that he can shoot. Wish us luck

I have seen 3 bucks this morning. Oklahoma has a 2 buck limit and that 3rd buck I saw was a super wide buck I was willing to end my season with. Wind swirled and he turned and was circling me at about 75 yards. I am bow hunting so there was no shot. I grunted and he started heading my way and I could hear something in the leaves behind me. I slowly turned my head to look and the flock of turkeys saw my orange hat and started clucking loudly and that was that...oh well I have several more hunting days this November..lol

We ended up seeing a handful of deer but none within my son's range. Came back to the house to find the youngest very disappointed that he didn't get to go. Threw him on some old camo and out the door we went looking for squirrels. We found some right away. You don't want to know how many shots it took to slow this guy down with a foam arrow.....lol. Making memories

Snow on ridgetops cold west wind. Perfect. Bucks chasing like crazy. Scrapes are ignored for now. Rattled in 3 bucks w one 8 I would’ve taken but no great shot w recurve.
Left stand midmorning to stillhunt crisscross on ridge. Stalked to within 25 of buck and doe. Would’ve shot either but busted by doe as I tried to get to my fav 18 yd range. Buck was too horny to even realize I was there till she trotted off after wind shifted. Great day. I love it.
