This is as you're coming to the main bridge along side my property. My line goes from here into this block of woods for about 350 yards. Don't know how much of it is actually underwater.

I hear you on the rain. I've had water over my entrance bridge 3 times this spring and never has that been before. Will have to replace one 4 ft culvert sometime this year thanks to nature.

Wow! 3 times already?

Weather's been pretty crazy around here lately that's for sure. Cool weather lingered for a lot longer than normal this spring and then it jumped right to 90°. Now tons of heavy rain with more possible tomorrow and Tue.

So the water has not receded enough to know whether the bridge is still standing and we are getting more rain this evening. Not good! I can only hope we get some drier weather ovet the next four days so I can evaluate on Saturday.

Good news and bad news regarding the bridge fellas. It's intact however the water rose enough to float it and shift it so that it's no longer level and affixed to the banks. The steel braided cable definitely did its job. It's kind of hard to see in the second pic (chain link is just right of center) but it's pulled completely taught.

I will likely have to rig up something with the atv winch to raise the other end up, adjust it back in place, and then re-sink the posts on both ends.

On another note...I am in the process of creating a ditch crossing where my dad almost buried his tractor a couple weeks back. I will need a couple more pieces of pipe and some more bags of concrete to finish it up.

Probably not as much as i should have but there's definitely more light getting in. It's only about a 20 x 20 yard area. I feel like my place is lacking cover/edge so that is the main goal right now. I plan on doing a couple more spots in the coming weeks then I'll leave it until after hunting season to determine how much/where I will cut this winter. I would also like to clear at least one area for a micro food plot by Sept. So many things to do.

Rained a good portion of the day so I worked in the cottage for a little bit trying to prep for our laminate flooring install. We'll be doing that ourselves during the summer as well as some painting. The rain died down just before it was time to leave to allow me a few minutes to go down and work on the ditch crossing. Once the concrete sets we should be able to get the tractor across without fear of getting stuck. Hopefully next weekend I can re-position the bridge. I'm going to use more concrete around the footers this time as well as add some sort of additional anchoring. Sorry, didn't get any pics today.

Just getting caught up. Hate you had issues with the new bridge. This year has been a test with rains for sure. Hinge cutting looks good. I do find that deer prefer to walk under so I tend to cut chest high anymore when possible.

Just catching up here too. Glad to see you didn't lose your bridge. That would not have been good. Water is capable of doing so much more damage beyond what we can imagine. The entire southeast and eastern seaboard has been inundated with rain for the past 5 weeks or so. We are just beyond wet down here. Seems it has rained everyday for a month. Humidity feels like August. Good news is that it's supposed to be out of here tomorrow morning with low humidity and dry weather forecasted for the next week.

Thanks for checking in dogghr. I thought about the chest high hinge cuts and am probably gonna try some in a different area to see if they prefer one method over the other. At this point I think any additional low level cover will be a benefit.
