2020 Live from the Stand

I just don’t understand some people. Mom used to tell me if you can’t say something nice don’t say anything. My grandpa said it’s better to be quiet and be thought a fool than open your mouth and remove all doubt.
I can’t stand internet tough guys. Why do you need to tear someone down to build yourself up?

Didn't know regular hunting was very hard hunting. Thanks for the clarification.

Guess that would depend on your definition of Regular Hunting.

For some that have easy access to their hunting grounds, that may be every evening or at least 3-4 nights a week.

Or it may be every weekend for some.

But rarely does it mean every morning and afternoon for every day for a week or more unless your on a special Hunt.

For me I go long days without hunting. Why? Because my hunting property is almost 6 hours from my home.

So when I’m there I hunt hard. Every day and more often than not All Day Sits just on the chance that the Buck I’m waiting for just maybe might make a mistake and walk by at 11:00 am or 3:00 pm. Or whenever.

I’ll hunt for 3-7 days then go home until the next chance I get.

So the term Hunting Hard and Regular Hunting greatly change meanings depending on the circumstances.

Imo.

I had 5 bucks trap me in my stand till well after dark...of course when I thought all were completely gone I started easing down but guess what...another one snuck in on me and let the whole world know…lol

I did not hunt yesterday due to winds direction. I hunted this morning and had 2 young bucks come to the south clover plot. When I got down I couldn’t see the other end of the plot and I jumped 2 does I could see. I am back on stand this evening down the n the white oaks. I got trapped here Thursday night by some bucks. I found a YouTube of coyote howls I will try tonight if I am trapped and the deer I am after doesn’t come by...

Well I got trapped again...used the coyote howls and coyote fighting sounds as loud as my phone would go and they wouldn’t even move, just kept eating there in the dark...I finally started making deer snorting noises but that didn’t make them leave either. Threw my seat cushion from the tree...still hear them eating...lowered my bow and swung it around...still eating...got down and walked out still hearing them eating...crazy!

It seems like there are a few days, just on rare occasions where you are almost like a “hole” in the woods. Have experienced it twice and can’t explain it. Have had deer, squirrels, and turkeys walk right by me with blaze orange on and never even glance my way.

PA statewide archery opened Saturday and the woods are just beautiful, pretty as a picture. The fall leaves changing color are my favorite time of the year, and hunting is such a great excuse to be out there. Since we are a one buck state I'm actually kind of glad no shooters came along so that I can continue to hunt for one, although I did have five nice buck sparring right below me. A very fulfilling hunt, and I never lifted my bow.

This is why bachelor groups break up. The guys can't stand each other anymore.

I had this happen one morning last year with two young ones. I was supposed to head out around 10:30 but they came in a little before 10:00 and hung around eating until 10:45. I tried coyote howling, throwing a stick, tapping on the tree, yelling at them and they were just oblivious. I finally lowered the bow and climbed down stepping into the leaves before they noticed me. They took a couple jumps and then just stood there watching as I untied my bow from the string, and started walking out when they finally ran off into the pasture. My guess is they either got really well educated on hunters or didn't make it through the season.

That's just crazy!

I rattled in a buck for the first time ever this morning. Cool. He was a wide 9 pointer at one point who has lost most of his left beam and the G2 on his right beam. Clearly he is a fighter. I could have shot him at 10 yards multiple times after rattling him in twice 30 minutes apart.
