"Whitetail Hollow" - 90 Acres NE Oklahoma.

That first buck is great, lots of character and good tine length. I hope you get some rain, we finally have some good rains forecast in the next week or so.

I passed him up last fall on 3 occasions and am glad I did. I knew he could be really special if given a little time. The main bucks I am looking to I hope show up soon. I am pretty sure laid back 9 has left because of the influx of knew bucks. He disappears every fall and shows up every spring.

We have a rain forecast for later this week. Hope it actually happens!

I had some training today in the big city and ended up having to be on one of the college campuses and I guess I got some "culture"...

Another interesting thing that happened this morning... I walked out our back door to head to work in the pre dawn and I heard something in the front yard so I walked around there and a bobcat had corralled a rabbit up against our foundation and caught it and slowly walked away with it across our front yard...I love it here!

I pulled a couple cards while Eli and I were trimming up stand areas and we daily have bucks showing back up that we haven't seen in months...

This buck has made a big jump from what he was last fall when I passed him up...

This is him last November 9th under my tree...

That looks like a 4 1/2 to 5 1/2 year old jump?

Sad deal...

On the way in to work this morning I noticed 2 dead bucks on the side of the highway just on the outskirts of Tahlequah. Woods on both sides of the highway here that breaks up the cattle pastures...I would bet over the years I have counted over 50 deer killed at this location...

I went back by this evening and took these photos. Someone had drug both bucks off the side of the highway up onto the ditch to get them off the pavement. All I can figure is someone plowed into a bachelor group :(

Never seen 2 deer hit at the same time. Must have been standing next to each other. Had to have done some major damage to the vehicle!

I parked a little way from where these dead deer were in a church parking lot and walked down to them. Lots of pieces and parts of automobiles from over the years in that ditch like broken head lights, pieces of grill etc. but I didn't see any new pieces. The other things of interest were how many needles I found walking about 100 yards down that ditch :(

very nice, you have some great bucks down there, looks like Eli is having fun
Thanks - I think Eli has fun when he comes out. He is an apartment dweller by choice of his parents as I have told them our "Home 10" property is available for them to live in at any time but it is too far from town they said...I really wish my grandson's could experience what I did as I was growing up...

Yikes Needles! I am sure it is just a diabetic throwing them out

Lots of needles & muslims...sounds like enough culture to last you a good while. Bummer on those bucks. Our early doe archery season opens this Saturday at home in PA. Archery season on my Ohio farm the following weekend. Mornings are starting to feel like fall. I'm ready to get in the stand.

I was pretty shocked about the needles but lots of folks walk to and from town in that area and I guess they just need to stop and have a pick me up every once in awhile. It used to be bottles of alcohol stashed behind every 3rd or 4th electric pole but has now moved to harder stuff...

You and me both on the time in the stand deal. I am ready to start doing some hunts but may end up having to work some mid days to finish what should have already been done :(

Well, yesterday afternoon a few pop up showers came up in our area and as usual our deer lease really capitalized on the rain. It has been a really wet summer there and it is in the same county as our other properties...

Home 10 is sitting at 2 showers of 1/16th since we planted plots on August 21st so I guess you can say we have had 1/8th"...

Watching storms just barely brush our properties with light green while the heavy rains are within 1/2 to 1/4 mile...this is really getting old...

The property I am in the middle of brushhogging right now has been dead centered with some powerful cells all morning so I may be out of luck doing that this evening...if tractor was home could go scratch in the dust I suppose but it is on the job site for the week...

Well, yesterday Whitetail Hollow got .41" rain but our Home 10 I have been posting pictures of that has been planted since August 21st got none. I hope to see some germination on the hollow this weekend but our other plots and trees are really struggling at the other property.

The good news is the local weather lady said we should be getting a good rain about noon today in our area so keeping our fingers crossed for this one because if we miss it then they are saying the next chance is the next weekend and we are supposed to be back in the 90's all week...

This is a picture of the drought monitor for the central United States for today. We are in that small drought section in NE Oklahoma. For reference Missouri is the state just off our NE corner and according to NOAA they are clear of drought now...
