My new Henry carbine

.410 shotgun is actually .45 case diameter, but fortunately in this instance the sling maker made them a little snug for .410 shells.
I will probably use the cartridge loops to hold empties as I will have seven loads in the carbine and some more in my pack. I have a butt cuff on my .280 and that's what i use the loops for, keeps them from being lost.

When I was younger and did a lot of still hunting in the mountains I would keep my spare cartridges in loops in a sleeve on the offside of my stock, a very handy place to keep a few extra "shells" as we called them back then. But it seemed like it didn't matter what the loop system was, it was common to loose a few until I eventually switched to velcro loop ammo wallets.

Picked up a new Henry .41 mag a while back and ran into the same thing with the trigger—tough as nails! Ended up calling Henry, and they walked me through a simple adjustment that made it way smoother. While waiting to sort it, I kept the rifle locked in a Home Safe so it wouldn’t get knocked around. Made zero difference to shooting, but knowing it was secure let me focus on getting the scope dialed in without stressing about it.

I guess I need to update this thread. After I got my trigger sear and spring installed I looked at what other factory .41 mag ammo I had in my stash. I found these Barnes Vortex loads on my shelf and figured why not ? This load is running 1500 fps out of a pistol barrel, (probably an 8” test barrel and not an actual revolver) so it should be doing at least 1700/1750 out of this carbine. I’m more interested in possible accuracy than velocity. This was a 50 yard group off my bench. After shooting this group I immediately bought 5 more boxes of ammo !😀 It is expensive but I won’t shoot this ammo for fun. I looked into reloading but at the cost of the bullets I can’t make it as cheap as they can. IMG_4089.jpegIMG_4088.jpegIMG_4086.jpegIMG_4030.jpeg

There won't be any deer heart left to eat 😮

Yes. It remains to be seen how it actually performs on game as I don’t have any experience with it. I’m gonna try it on pigs first hopefully.

I swapped out the factory trigger on mine for a frt trigger and noticed a big difference right away, cleaner break and way less creep. It made follow-up shots feel smoother too. If you're used to mil-spec triggers, this one's gonna feel like a big upgrade.
