Well I went this evening and it was nuts...I ended up seeing 7 bucks and 4 does...I saw all the Bigger bucks except 4 and He was 1 of the4 I didn’t see...they all came in together. I had my pick of all of them and had I not had the target deer I do I would have shot the first one in...

Headed for Kentucky here in a few...riding over with a buddy to pick up an engine he bought. When I get back it’s straight back on the dozer so may be a bit before I get to try him again...

No doubt a target buck worth waiting on, good luck Johnny. I think Iowa was taking 5000 shed bucks in late doe. I heard people say that they intentionally targeted shed bucks. The doe season was also very effective at shooting out the doe population on the State land.

Archery season ends on Friday but i don’t know if I will get any more stand time as I have been unable to really say no to any work coming my way due to the old saying “make hay when the sun is shining”. I think there will still be a demand and need for what I do once the new admin comes in since people are trying to make the land they own more livable and make it work for them. Also any vacant land is being bought up quick by those fleeing the cities and on the other side of the aisle foreigners coming in and purchasing it for marijuana grow operations. I found out for some reason Oklahoma has the most lax Marijuana grow laws in the nation and $5k takes care of all fees and permits unlike say our neighboring Arkansas that cost $100k for the same thing. I would like to do some habitat work on the Hollow here but it will probably just be some chainsaw work when the ground is too wet to use my bulldozer on a job somewhere. I don’t foresee my dozer being home for awhile...it usually just moves from one property to the next. I am going to post 1 photo each of some jobs I did this past year. Some of these jobs took weeks, others I got done the same day I dropped it.

Many of these jobs had multiple work locations on the same farm...I worked in 5 areas on this farm and 12 areas on the previous picture...

Finished this last one yesterday...2 roads and 1 acre clearing.

Gotta get busy...moving to a new job today. Was waiting on frost to burn off old F800. Told the guy I would be there tomorrow but gotta stay ahead as much as possible for when it rains. Have 7 properties lined up right now. Some will take weeks to finish...

Thank you Cat...I got to work on a large deer hunting property today for our area...it was a place of legend when I was growing up. It was a place where the owners and guest actually killed bucks when I was a kid which was unreal in our area...558 acres of deer paradise and still in the same family and been passed down to the current owner who is an Oklahoma Highway Patrol. He got hold of me and asked me to help clean the place up some. Today I was working in a grove of black locust that had grown up over the years. These things are really stuck! Black gumbo with a clay base which means a lot of digging to get them out. Deer came out and watched me while I worked and I even found a small 4 point shed...

The 15th...I may try to hunt Thursday and Friday if I am caught up enough.

I hunted the last 2 days of season and had no luck...I saw a few deer but not the only one I was after...interestingly enough the day after he came back out with the girls...

One of the bucks is in poor shape...

Lots of nice up and comers still around...

Here is why I don’t like early morning walks into our property...very difficult...on this morning I walked with a west wind along our east fence all the way to the back and then west to my stand. This stand is approximately 80 yards from the N fence...even though the wind was howling this buck knew something was up...

2020 ended with 1 buck killed on the hollow here by our grandson in our backyard back during the 3 day youth rifle season so 2020 was a strapping success in my book.

We got a little winter the past few days here in Ok...started off with some freezing rain but later it was colder so everything fell as snow. I haven’t went outside this morning yet but by looking out I suspect we are at around 9” on the ground today.

I did a quick walkabout yesterday before the bigger snow came last night to see the deer trails coming off neighboring properties...

I found a couple deer beds in my short walk...

If I had been a betting man I would have bet money that this buck would have shed first this year. He had an injury that I suspect was man made and I called him limpy 9. He was a decent bodied deer in September but something happened and he is skin and bones now and as of yesterday he still had not shed.

Who did shed was both my target buck and his traveling buddy...

You should take up coyote trapping. Can't remember if you've ever said that you've trapped or not, but it's really fun. Of course call your neighbors and let them know there'll be traps set on your place for the foreseeable future so that they have an opportunity to take action to protect their dogs.
