Pinetag's Plot - 43 acres in Virginia

And I have a few prospects starting to show up for the fall. I really like the looks of the buck in the third pic. He appears to be the most mature (bodywise).

After looking a little closer I think this might be the buck I named "Teacup" that I was getting on camera last season and into March of this year. Hard to say for sure with just that one photo so hopefully I'll get a better one in the coming weeks. Here are a couple from last year and you can see that short 5th point on his right side making him a 9. The picture from March is the same camera as this new photo.

I had my dad meet me this afternoon to bushhog the little field up by the cottage, but unfortunately I didn't get a great pic. We were standing there talking and I snapped a quick one but I forgot to go back and take a better one. That should be the last time it needs cutting for the year.

I also cut up part of the tree that fell in front of the river pull off and was covered in poison ivy, but as I got farther along the poison ivy got thicker so I stopped. There is enough room to get the 4 wheeler by which is all I care about for now. I figure I'll wait until after the season to get the rest when the sap isn't flowing.

Finally got the stump gone from my creek bridge so now I can drive the quad straight across. I sunk a 4x4 about 3 feet down and then filled it with concrete as my anchor for the steel cable that was previously wrapped around the tree, and saved it from going downstream in the flood last year.

Before and after...

And last but not least, the hazelnuts up behind the skinning shed are producing a few nuts. I think I'm gonna take some and try my hand at growing some seedlings to plant next spring, or maybe direct seed a few near my food plots.

I set up the pop blind this morning so I'll have another option for me and my daughter. Tried to brush it in some so hopefully the deer get used to it fairly quickly.

I also spread some yellow clover and rye in the food plots as well as did some hinge cutting along the trail leading to my pasture stand. The edges of the path were much too open. After that I went down in the woods and did some small hinge cuts to thicken things up before the season. I checked my old hinge cut from last year and it appears I have some decent looking grasses and berry bushes popping up. I wish I would have gotten more pictures.

Found some red oaks that are producing this year and I found another fairly mature persimmon. This one is on the upper 20 acres, so it's nowhere close to the river like the other one. I could not see any fruits on it so it might be another male, but I did cut a few trees nearby to help release it (just in case).

I'm seeing a little action on one of my mock scrapes (in front of the pasture stand) but unfortunately the batteries died on this camera, so i didn't capture anything over the last ten days.

And this beast, black bear showed up. I think it's different from the one I came across this summer.

We need some rain! Food plots haven't germinated yet because we've barely had any rain over the last 30 days and temps have remained high. I did however find another mature persimmon so that makes 3 native trees I've found this year. Not much else to update right now and I'll be staying out of the woods from now until my first hunt sometime in mid-late October, when the temps start to fall.

The most promising of the mock scrapes I created is starting to see some use! Granted, it's all at night right now but last year I didn't start seeing any daytime activity in this area until the pre-rut. This one looks to be pretty nice and is very distinguishable with his crooked G2 on the right side.

And this little buck appears to have a double brow on the right side. Can't wait to hit the stand in a couple weeks!

Finally got a little bit of rain!! It's only .1" of an inch but I'll take whatever I can get at this point. Funny how last year we had flooding and standing water almost the whole year and this fall we are in a drought.

Hoping for some Alabama rain also
Hope you get it too lak! We haven't seen drought conditions like this in a long time. Fortunately we're up to .21" now with an 80% chance on Wed so I'm hoping for some good food plot growth over the next couple weeks. Just in time for early Nov and muzzleloader season.

Rain has been hard to come by in the SE this fall! We had a rough September in western NC and just got a little last week. Hoping the end of October brings much needed rain for all of us!

Your place is looking great, Can't wait to see some trophy pictures!
