Pinetag's Plot - 43 acres in Virginia

Put some ladino clover out just before the storms this evening and they're calling for some more decent rain chances over the next few days as well. I'll be adding some winter rye in a couple weeks.

Officially done with painting today, thank goodness! I also got some baseboard trim done, finished the first bedroom flooring, started the second bedroom flooring, and my wife and daughter put up some wallpaper in the kitchen to cover up the mess that existed around the cabinets.

And here's the kitchen before and after. She also got the shelves covered.

So I put down some winter rye this morning and it looks like maybe the ladino clover is already germinating. Does this look like clover?

That’s your clover. In my limited experience it’ll spend most of this year putting down roots and really take off next spring. Adding the rye is going to provide a food source all winter and will really help keep weeds down and provide shade for your clover next spring. Looks like Great decisions and great timing to me.

And put up some more baseboard and shoe moulding going down the hallway too.

Still no bucks yet but more deer are showing up at one time so that's good news. Also, got some stump sprouts so that should add a little variety for them to munch on.

Thanks for the feedback! I'm just trying to follow all the good advice I've learned on this forum so I hope it plays out that way.

Little but of a mishap today too while working on the flooring. I had set up a couple 2x4's across saw horses for my long cuts and one fell off right on top of my big toe. It doesn't look that bad but it sure is throbbing.

Thinking about getting some electric heaters/fireplaces for the cottage this fall. As little as we will use them it shouldn't add but a few bucks a month to the electric bill. I was going to go the woodstove route but that's just too much extra work right now, especially not knowing if there are any issues with the chimney. Anybody have any experience with these?

I think it would look good in front of the brick chimney.

Played around with a photo editor. I think this will look good.

pinetag...We have one of those electric heaters just like the one in the pic above in our guest cabin. Amazing how much heat those things will put out.
