While my wife was pregnant with our first I took some time last winter to make 2 of these octagon blinds.

Framing the walls took some time!

Framing, wrap, and metal decking. I don't see any plywood sheathing on the walls - Is my impression correct?

Will you have glass / plexiglass window?

Correct no plywood on the walls. Just barn steel

I did have windows ordered from deer view windows and after waiting 2 months and being jerked around I built my own!

Built 8 windows from 1x2" cedar and then cut polycarbonate for the windows with a circular saw

I made a plexiglass window the other day and it fogged over despite the entire front being open. Wondering how you will do with your setup

Looks great, that is my project for this year.I have some of the deer view and they are ok,don't know if you have seen the way they hinge them but you could use the same on yours. They take a small piece of angle and it has 1 hole on one side that a pin from window from goes in to make a pivot point. You could make a pin from a nail or whatever on your wood frames. One question, did you set on a separate platform or a 2x6 frame with a space for trapdoor

just used the 2x8 octagon frame then built a ladder after this picture was taken

So you just attached the elevators to the bottom of the blind?Did you draw up anything with your measurements?Has anyone else had issues with mice climbing the wood post and getting in blind?

Well it was a total nightmare using the elevator brackets with the base being octagon. The stance of the legs on one part were super close and I figured this was going to be some what of a problem but not as bad as it was tho. After getting it up I added 2 6x6 posts and set them 4ft below grade with concrete and lagged them with 1/2 bolts. The next time with this other one I will not use the brackets and set it with the tractor on top of 6x6's and lag it up if that makes sense. The measurements for the blind I'd have to retake them off the one in the barn if you'd like?

What I was thinking about doing is building a platform with a hole in it to match the trap door and setting the blind on then I could use my elevators.I am only looking at around 8ft off the ground where I need it.Looks great you really should keep a set of plans

Very nice looking blind ditty22. It looks economical to build. Is the roof flat or built with compound angles? Will you be painting the interior black? How did the blinds work out for you?

I would be more than happy to get you the plans while I'm up north this weekend

looks nice ditty! I built one similar but only the front had the angled walls. Had the same issue with the elevator brackets and said if I build another that I would just frame the floor square and just cut the floor plywood on angle

That's an awesome build!! Great job.

How wide are each of the panels? I was thinking of doing 36" panels, should make it be a little over 7' side to side. I also have been trying to figure out how to use the elevator brackets. I wondered about building a square platform with the elevators, and then taking the walls up one at a time, but really don't know if the extra material at the corners will interfere with bow shots... do you have more ideas?

I wanna say it's between 30-36in boards cut at the 22.5deg

Awesome job. I have done them with just the front having the angled corners and I hunt from the ground level and they work great.
