Live from the stand 2016!

It was warm yesterday...80s during the day, dropped down into the 60s at night. Was probably 70s during the hunt. It's considered warmer than average for the time of year/area but it's SC so deer are used to warm temps.

I'll be headed out for an evening hunt after work. Temps are warm here too but you cant shoot em sitting on the couch. It's supposed to cool off this weekend and i will start takng some days off next week and into Nov.

Last night was fairly entertaining. Saw a 1/2 dozen antlerless deer and 3 dink bucks. 2 of those bucks came out into the corn stubble after sundown. Right at last light I could make out another buck that was a little larger hanging right on the edge of cover where the other two were feeding. Not enough light left to tell if he was a shooter or not. Saw the usual coons and squirrels. Also had a decent sized covey of quail out in the corn stubble close to my stand as well. This morning was slow, 4 antlerless deer was all, and the 2 does never gave me a shot. Told myself that if I got a gimme shot this morning on a doe I would punch a tag. They must have heard me thinking!

Made it out for the evening sit. Good thing there is some breeze because it's hot! Thank goodness for the thermacell. I don't think I thought this stand setup through all the way. My approach has me walking through the woods more than I would like. Will need to remedy that before I sit it again. Beautiful oak bottom though!

Climbed into a hang on stand over a small foodplot. 72 deg, breezy, and not much activity on my trailcam here. Not feeling too confident, but it beats watching debate spin.

Just got buckled in and ready to go. White oak to my front leading into a turnip and radish plot. From there it moves into our fruit orchard but we're still a few years away from a lot of fruit.

Behind and to the right is our chestnut orchard though still a few years on those as well.

Temps in the 60's and dropping after rain this morning. Was 89 yesterday. Little more windy then I like but think me or Merle got a good shot today.

Just had a doe and a fawn pass at five yards, pic you can make out the back of the fawn just to the right of the tree.

One doe and one fawn was all we saw. Did have a buck rub it in on our game camera during broad daylight.
