Drought and Survival

Interesting
I use a really neat free app called Rain Drop that shows how much it rained anywhere in the US. The free version only allows you to have two pre-saved locations that pop up the next time you open it, but you can manually move the map to any location. The free version shows the total for the past month, the paid version goes back in history as far as you want to go.

The rain continues. I am up to 30" for the year, verses 17.50" average annual.
My friend asked me to check his pasture again since he is out of town. Traveled to his place and dumped 1.50" from his gauge. Took another picture in a similar place that I did last month over there. That draw is usually dry as a bone.

Before I went to my friend's ranch, I checked out my food plot of radishes, turnips and chicory. Water pooling from last night's rain. I have planted radishes and turnips off and on for a number of years and the whitetail have never paid much attention to them. Chicory, on the other hand, once they find it, they will eat it into the ground. This mix did not have any Delar small burnet in it, but that is another plant that these deer out here on the prairie will hit hard. I have heard it can take awhile for the deer to get used to the brassicas, so I try to plant some, hoping.
