If you were using the Mechanical Style Broadheads, they do make a loud WHACK when they hit and open, at least the ones I've used do.

Is there anyone that does Deer Dog Tracking in your area? Down here there are a bunch of dedicated Guys and Ladies that have trained dogs just for finding shot deer. It has amazed me once I started to follow their Tracks just how many deer they recover that the shooter would of never found on their own. Many have stopped bleeding and some never did but a drop or two. Really opened my eyes to deer from my past that I figured I missed that I actually probably killed and never knew it.

I do not know if tracking with dogs was made legal here as of yet. I do know from what my arrow showed me and the sparse muscle blood I got and absolutely no intestine hit that myself and another veteran deer hunter of many years just can’t see this hit being lethal unless somehow coyotes pull him down before he heals. I was using a 4 blade fixed “slick trick”.

I shot a buck just like that several years ago Okie, with much the same results. My Jack Russell tracked him for about 300 yards and the blood was down to match-head size and 30/40 yards apart when I pulled him off the track. Lots of white hair at the shot site and some bone that I identified as brisket bone. He was shot in the morning so I wasn’t hindered with low light or time. It was during the rut, and I had never seen that buck before and never saw him again. Sorry it didn’t work out for you.

He is a local deer that I have been hunting for 4 years...I suspect he will stay in the area...

It was a crazy, crazy evening. I went to a stand back in the white oak grove and actually had to stalk my stand and climb into it without spooking a doe that was busy scarfing acorns. She finally fed away and about 15 minutes later 2 spikes came in feeding on acorns and then another doe and they hung around for about 15 minutes and left. At 6:40 I had a nice 8 point come in and a few minutes later I had a nice 9 point followed by another doe and a 6 point. A couple minutes later I see 3 more does and a good 10 point, another 9 point, and then 4 more 8 pointers and a 4 point. I had deer all over me eating acorns in this white oak grove. I could barely breathe because several were eating acorns directly under me that fell out of the tree I was in. Gradually just as darkness was falling they started heading toward my food plot that is about 300 yards from where I was...I was awaiting the last ones to get gone before I climbed down and about that time I heard a deer splashing across the creek that runs through our place and headed my way. By this time it is dark and I listen to this deer and another deer come up and crunch acorns for about 45 minutes while I am stranded in my tree. The moon is almost full and occasionally I can make out a deer in the deep woods when they go through a spot the light has filtered down into...I just keep sitting because this is one of the premier stands on our place and I don’t want to booger anything. As I said the moon was bright but I am sitting there well past hunting time and about 5 minutes before I finally climb down I hear a rifle shot about 1/4 mile from me to the west...grrr

Feels good to be in the stand again with some cool weather!! 36° currently with a couple little ones lingering around, but they better get woods wise real quick or they ain't gonna make it long in this area.

This is our early, two day Muzzleloader season. We saw 12 deer yesterday morning and 11 yesterday afternoon. However, none this morning - guess why.....

I wanted to be live in the stand this morning, but we went to a Charlie Daniels concert last night with friends and got to bed about midnight. Anymore, midnight until 5:00 a m just doesn’t compute. I did get up at 5:00 and check my wind app though and it was bad for where I was gonna bowhunt. That’s my story and I’m stickin’ to it !

I’m in my favorite stand for the first time this year. Wind is acceptable and the tropical storm has moved through. Beautiful afternoon on the salt flat.

It’s 80 degrees with swirling wind but Eli and I are on stand hoping for a buck to get up before 10:00 pm...

It’s been a lot slower than I expected. Briefly saw s buck early, then a nice 8 pointer came out a little while ago. He had an interesting rack - outside the ears, y’all, good mass, but short G2s. His neck was massive but he had no sag in his belly. I think he was either 3.5 or 4.5. I hope a neighbor doesn’t shoot him like the last 2 good bucks I passed up earlier in the season.

We had an exciting afternoon. This 10 point came under our tower blind about 30 yards away. It was a tough call, but we felt like he could possibly be a 3 year old, so we let him go. He was making a bee line to a group of does we had been watching, and he came out right in the food plot where they were. They scattered like rabbits.
