Good stuff and congrats on home 10. Err Home 35 pears and apples

I don't know if I would want in that 5" range which is close by you. I'll be happy with just a couple of inches. Should get my pond full and good ground soaking.

Yee ha!

First wave has passed by and dropped .69 on the hollow. Shows another wave to hit just after lunch time and another late this evening/tonight.

Hoping for a solid 2" when it is all said and done...won't fill ponds but will put some deep moisture down for trees...

Man Kansas has a really wide swath of rain...down here in our area we always seem to just catch the tail end of stuff...I have been dying to get one of those good old slow soaker rains that last about 24 hours straight...storms we get are hard and fast moving out of the area...

Yep, that wide swath has been hanging over us all morning. Perfect rain for ground saturation. I wish I had a plot that needed planted right now, feels like I'm wasting it (but it certainly is appreciated)!

Last yr was the same way. Best summer rain I can remember in my lifetime here.

2015 was like that for us and then 2016 was bad and 2017 bad until the past 6 days...I lost a bunch of seedlings...so many that I just stopped planting. Right now I have about 50 sawtooth, 50 American plum, and 20 more sand plum to get in the ground and I hope I have time to get all that done this weekend along with a ton of other stuff I need to do like get my car ready for the first show this year, put up a couple ladder stands, trim shooting lanes, girdle some big hickory trees, get new gravity feeder in place and filled...and still going to try for a turkey bird...all time management stuff...

1.02" now...far cry for what was called for...

Got some more last night. Saturated ground and deep soil moisture which is great for the trees and our well!

This is the little creek through our place. It has had no water in it since 2015...

The rain gods are smiling on You! Hope those seedlings soak it up and retain. Did your acorns sprout? They would be in a crucial stage just now

told you that creek would be running in 24 hours!
glad we got some much needed moisture. I'll be out to look at my place tomorrow.

Spent this weekend doing some work on our property since it was very cool and wet. First up was placing the new Banks gravity feeder.

Instructions called for 42" port height.

I did not put anything in the feeder as I want the deer to grow accustomed to it so I put rice bran down around it and a camera. Once deer start using the rice bran well I will put feed in it because i don't want any mildew issues.

Next on the list was to girdle and cut some hickory to open up the canopy. I started this process Saturday and then did some more yesterday. All girdles were squirted with straight GLY. Some were down with chainsaw and some with hatchet.

Doing a test to see if the main trunk girdle GLY treatment will kill the ungirdled attached smaller tree.

All in all I girdled about 30 trees and outright cut and stump treated another 30-40...all were hickory...mostly to release white oak. You can see the difference in the leaves on the trees I girdled the day before...wilted...

I know we have been going back and forth on what makes a good turkey property so I will show you our typical roost tree and how thick it is nearby. I wormed my way back in to take these pictures...
