Good stuff Johnny! Love Judgement Day and cant believe how much Eli has grown. Reminds me of my oldest grandson, Jaden. He was 7 when I bought my place and now 17. Sheez! They grow up in a hurry. Always great to catch up on Johnny's world! BTW...Was that a '67 Chevelle you blew away in the video? My dream would be to still have my '67 Chevelle my dad paid $1,000 for in 1973. Couple of my buddies from high school still have their orange "Judge" from their high school days.
Yes, I was at the Pontiac Nationals in Norwalk Ohio which was a long haul on an open trailer. Lots of cool stuff there for an old Pontiacer like me. Eli is certainly growing up. First day of 10th grade today and 5th grade for his little brother. It was 100 today and I spent it in the dirt on the dozer a couple towns over. When I got off of it you couldn’t tell what color I was...lol
Wow...been well over 2 months for this thread...I am down with a bit of Covid I fear...kind of quarantining here at home alone. Our season opened October 1st but it has been fairly warm so I bowhunted only a couple of times so far this year. My sits were good ones and I saw some really nice deer each time I went but I chose not to loose a string as the season is only beginning. Perhaps not get a deer again this year like last year but I always like to hold onto hope till the final hour. The past month has been one of much breakage. I broke a rod in my GTO and then a few days later stripped the torque converter in the dozer and broke a driveshaft on the Brushhog...I guess it is true sometimes bad luck comes in 3’s.
Youth rifle season has come and gone and I took Eli 4 times out. On the first sitting he had opps at a nice 9 point and a very nice 8 point but he wanted to see what else would come out. After that Friday morning sit we had poor luck with dogs, switching winds, and deer just not cooperating. On Sunday morning I took him to “Home 10” which is now 25 acres and could not believe it when we didn’t see a deer. I had not been out there in a long while and perhaps my renters had something to do with it or the fact my cousin installed a 50 dog kennel along my south boundary when they purchased my late neighbors property. In defense there are no plots there, the orchard was a total failure as well as all of the sawtooth failed to make acorns and I have no feeders there because I had renters. The renters found a home to buy so they are out by 10/31.
I got off the deer lease in 2019 but decided to give it a go this year but had no chance to make it down until Sunday afternoon with our camper to get it set up. I took a cellular camera down so I decided to set it up on the mountain I like to hunt down there so I grabbed a bag of rice bran, my camera, and a lever action .22 Mag in case I saw a coyote or hog and hopped on the 4 wheeler and headed for the ridge. Just as I got almost where I was headed a sounder of hogs jumped up and I winged 2 of them while they were running through the brush never even getting off my Polaris. I set up my camera and poured out the rice bran, checked the straps on my stand and left the area. It was about an hour before the first deer arrived after I left and then it was steady deer stream of bucks and does into the night and then at 5:30 pm on Monday another large group of hogs moved in and camped out on my spot for 4 hours and then they came back again Tuesday morning around 8 am for an hour and they haven’t been there since at this point. Our muzzleloader season begins Saturday and I hope I feel well enough to go. The Weather is supposed to warm into the 80’s with chances of rain and SE winds. With these conditions I plan to actually try to go down and hunt if possible since those conditions are poor for here at home...

Take those hogs out before they make it to Kansas please!! I'll pray your covid experience is mild and short-lived. Do you plan on seeking any treatment? There are some really good meds out there, no matter what the media will tell you on the subject. I have a good number of friends who were treated with ivermectin with good results. If you get some prescribed and don't know the pharmacist personally, tell them you taking it for prevention of intestinal parasites, and I'm not kidding either. I'll pm you details if you'd like to know...

I felt a little better today and the shop that had my dozer called yesterday and said it was ready so I went and got it. I told the owner what was going on and he said he already had it. I put a check on the corner of a desk and they had my receipt ready to go so I didn’t even get close to anyone...loaded it myself and now it is safe at home which makes me feel better.

The worst is this persistent cough that comes out of nowhere. I can be sitting here in my house just fine and without notice have to cough every few minutes. I have had some pretty great trail cam photos the last couple days here at home and the right wind to hunt but I haven’t gone because I am afraid I will spook deer before I get one in bow range by coughing...
