I would replant. You’re at the end of time frame but, what you’ve got there is not going to do any good. If you have the time and the seed I’d redo it in whatever you have on hand. If you do not want to replant I would just keep it mowed In the end it’s nothing to stress over I’ve learned. It happens.
 
We often end up planting brassicas in the next week or so. It is late but the crop fed the deer thru December last year and kept the deer busy every evening during hunting season. So replanting is still an option. We plant the seeds heavier figuring they don’t need as much space to grow(learned that trick by a mistake).
 
As our berries and corn ripen/mature 16D2E47B-756F-494F-AE1B-D90DCD1B6716.jpeg 147DB3CD-D490-4C39-B679-ECEAABA58388.jpeg each summer, the bears move in for the good eats. I think this guy put on 50lbs since last year. I believe he’ll top 400lb. Any thought on his size?
 
He was this fat last fall but seem notably longer. I’d sure love to see him in bow season.... Sadly, our bears go nocturnal a couple days before the season opener every year.
 
I’m still really struggling with lambsquarter. I’ve disced and sprayed a 1/2 acre field 3 times now completely killing it and it keeps germinating.... it’s also cost me another acre of brassicas I ended up terminating in an attempt to reduce more spreading. Really have no idea what a long term fix is. It grows so fast that it has drowned every attempt at planting brassicas in this particular field. What’s got me worried is it has exploded in a much larger field.... I’d welcome any suggestions.

I have a problem with ragweed and sometimes foxtail like this. Roundup does it in, and I rotate to RR ready corn or beans when I have trouble. If had ragweed that just overpowered brassica before. The rotation with a Gly crop seems to help.
 
Farmhunter, I’ve thought about large rr bean plantings for this very purpose. The problem is lamsquarter takes multiple heavy spraying to kill. I worry about the beans ability to take being run over this many times.... Nonetheless, it may be my best option.... It will mean going without 8 acres of late winter food (corn and brassica) to keep from having the beans wiped out in smaller plots. If I go this route, we’ll inevitably have a very hard winter and the deer will take a hit. It does have me seriously thinking about a no till planter to reduce stirring up the seed bank with my discing/broadcasting/discing method.

Does your county offer renting a no till planter? Our farmer friend Dennis bought a no till planter and it does an incredible job. The price for them is very high but renting from the county is a great alternative if they offer it.

Before RR corn we used to use a pre-emergent to keep weeds out. It has been a long time but It may have been called Prowl. I have some left over that you are welcome to have assuming it doesn’t go bad. It needs to be put down before the weed seeds germinate though. Naturally if the weed comes from roots under the soil then pre-emergents don’t work.
 
Thanks Dave. My understanding is they prevent small seed from germinating. Would it do the same with newly planted brassicas?
