Everything is saturated, the river is raging and the pond is over flowing. I will finally get spring growth!!! I has been 6 long years!!! There will have to be timely Summer rains to have apples.

Chestnuts are looking good!!!

Ground is 100% saturated, up to 8 inches on the way.... this could get exciting! My house is high and dry, but I expect a big flood!

I haven't seen rain like this since Hurricanes in NC. Raining buckets. Flooding pics will surely follow, as more and more rain falls on saturated soil. Does anyone want some well used hose?

The river is flowing about 30 MPH or faster, so it doesn't stay flooded long, but the rapidly moving water causes a lot or damage.


This is water over the road, and in the middle there is abridge!

Raining too hard for a good pick of this turkey hen. Half the pasture is flooded.

Swallows build a nest on the front porch light every year, which makes a mess. Knocking down the nest results in it being rebuilt in two days. It makes a mess, buy we enjoy the birds, so we allow it..

The rain made the nest fall down, and the five or six babies are alive for now. Is there a way to save them?

Only way to save them is to take them in and feed them. It's tough because even if you are able to save them they don't have a mommy to teach them how to eat and find food. Baby birds are easy to feed and actually easy to get to flying age. Worms, bugs, and softened dog/cat food will provide what they need. They just don't learn the survival skills, which they need, from mom.

If you can feed them and keep them alive till Monday, then call your vet friend and find out if there is a local wildcare organization that will take them.

I did that with pups when the mother died... what a chore! I was hoping I could rig something up and the parents would return?

Do you have any other nests around. You could split them up and slip them in. We have them on our front porch every year. The mess drives my wife nuts but they are my favorite bird so they have a home and I play dumb with the wife.

That's the only nest. That would be a great idea if there were other nests.

Make a nest out of rabbit wire and line it with yarn or something soft and wire back on top the light and put them back in the nest and see if momma returns. You could also place the old nesting material in to the rabbit wire nest.
