Had some success. My son took his first deer at about 18:00 last night. His first shot was at 28 yards and hit a little back. He was able to get in a second arrow at 40 yards. We were both jacked up. It was the first deer either of us have taken in archery season.

Back at it this morning with my son. He has his crossbow today so hopefully he'll be able to reach out and touch one he's been watching. Been in stand since about 45 minutes before sunrise. Still too warm for November in NY.

Activity super slow in NE Oklahoma...way too warm. 57 here right now. Drove about 40 miles last night through some great deer country and never even saw an eyeball along the roads.

No destroyed him. Rolled under jeep. Tried to miss but 4 lane doing 70+. I've already dodged 2 this season on 2 lane near my farm. U can see his rack indentation on hood. At least no airbag. Waiting to rent truck. Maybe hunt this evening.

Oh no, dogghr, sorry to hear that and to see that picture. We left northern Va VERY EARLY Friday am. Drove in the dark for several hours. I was amazed at the number of dead deer on I81. My thought was that northern Va deer must be moving. Two spots had a buck and a doe on side of road together.

Great job, Dad. My son got us into bow hunting when he was about 10 or 11. He too killed one with a bow before I did. Was so proud of him.

Beautiful morning for ML opener in VA. 38° when I left the house, clear and calm. Hadn't seen anything until just a few minutes ago when a spike came walking through.

Great morning on my first hunt of the year. Started slow and didn't see the first deer until 0800. Ended up seeing 10 doe and 4 bucks, including two really good ones. The rut has started despite the warm weather, and they were following does.Had both a 4.5 or 5.5 y/o non-typical with drops and a 3.5 y/o big nine under 20 yards. Just couldn't do it so early in the season. Hadn't seen either of them before.

What is the scarring on top?

We see it here fairly often as well. I think it is just from rubbing on brush and trees.

I saw a single doe and then 2 does and a fawn this morning. Not a buck in sight.

Sat till 2:30 hoping to catch the nice 8 who seemed to be working scrapes mid day, but no luck. Saw 3 does at 1:00 but nothing trailing them. Back in the stand over looking the swamp this evening.
