Live from the stand 2016!

I have a Remington 700ML in .54 cal and the only reason I stopped using it was due to issues finding bullets. Probably most accurate ML I have ever shot but my TC Omega is a tack driver too.

This Encore I am using seems like a good one too...

Evening hunt on whitetail hollow...small kill plot of radishes and rye grain deep in the woods. Wind direction is south like it is going to be all week which is the worst possible wind to hunt our property. Wind is in my face now but was at my back all the way here and I did have a deer wind me and blow out on the way in. To top that off I heard some dogs running a deer really close on our east side.

79 degrees...

plot looks pretty---looks like the rain you received last week really helped. Good luck this evening!

Does should be showing up anytime!

I am sitting on a log in the dozer pile of our north plot. I am eyeballing the tree a stand is going in tomorrow though about 15 yards behind me ;)

Your plot looks good and green. Thank goodness you got a little rain on it, but you did get more here than home 10, right?

Back at it today. Spooked a couple on my walk in but they were a good ways from the stand so hopefully it won't have any effect on the morning hunt.

I am back out with the bow at my place for the first time since Friday morning. I spent my Friday evening and Saturday hunts helping out a friend with the mentored youth, early rifle season at his dad's 40 acres. Windy the whole time, didnt see a single deer, and only heard 1 shot. I dont think many kids fell in love with the sport this year. We quit early and had a nice breakfast at the Red Rooster, though.

Cooler and less windy this morning. Saw a couple of does. The larger of the 2 stomped at and tried to wind a buck decoy I set out. Its always amusing to see how different deer react to a decoy.

Back on stand on the hollow. Windy and very warm ESE. I am sitting a new ladder stand that is more for deer movement around the head of the hollow during peak rut.

Why I am sitting here now is because with this awful wind direction it is just about my only choice. I really am going to have to put my thinking cap on and make some more options for crappy east or south winds here...

Yesterday evenings hunt on the plot was foiled by dogs and one of the 10 acre deer camp guys (our entire east side across the fence has 8 10 acre hunting tracts and the one furthest back decided to start cutting wood and hollering and bang around from about 6:00 Pm till it was too dark to see :(

Nothing moving right now but it's cool, clear, and calm. Beautiful morning in VA! Saw a new scrape on my way in right beside my walking path and the bigger scrape has been freshly checked out on the main 4 wheeler path. Should start getting good over the next couple weeks.

Nice buck,
I'm getting restless...I may cut out for an afternoon hunt today. The 10pt I've seen twice while hunting (once with my grandson, too far for a shot, and last Sun eve, gun malfunction) the same stand beckons me.
