House and Habitat build thread:

The wife had made a couple of comments about the nuts in the fridge. I didn't think much of it at the moment, but took notice after putting some Burr in there this weekend. There were quite a few in there! Going to have to ship some out soon!

Only ones I have in the fridge are those sawtooth I got from you. I spread/planted roughly 2,000 other acorns this fall all over my place. That may have been a mistake, but...I can't imagine what that would have looked like in the fridge! I know where I can get more next year.....hopefully. I get "the look" every time I bring a batch into the kitchen to float test them in the sink. She doesn't mind that.....but she has some pretty firm rules about what goes in the fridge in the house. Most of my stuff has to go in the one in the garage!

"The look" can be used by a wife for soooo many things. Eventually we learn how far to push it. A well trained husband knows how many times the look can be used before it gets verbal. I like to avoid verbal...
I moved them to a different fridge this morning (we'll see if she notices). Once shipped I'll be down to a few Sawtooth, Chestnut, and PawPaw. No need to plant the rest as I have a ton of Burr, Chink, and DCO being planted by nature every yr.

If Momma ain't happy, ain't nobody happy! When I get the verbal treatment I spend a lot of time staring at my shoes:oops:.....15 holes in the toe are on the top of each of my sneakers.....I mess up a lot!:D

Rub post and licking branch got almost immediate action.
Doe and fawns. Even the doe rubbed her face on it.

Cool action on the post.
By Feb our entire crisper drawer is full of acorns and scionwood. She tries to understand.:p

Thats a pretty decent buck!
He's not bad. I'm not sure that he is a regular though. It might be the first time I've gotten pics of him, there are several 8's running around with that general frame. Hard to tell them apart before they start growing stickers and forks. Either way, glad to have him.

It sure did and ended with my first born son for a graduation present. Wouldn't have it any other way but was a bit scary at the time.
I feel where your coming from. I myself am the result of high school romance.....I was at my fathers high school graduation! And that was back in the 70's in smalltown USA - really "frowned upon" in those days. My folks have been married ever since (40+ years now). My wife and I had our first my senior year of college - he was born in march and I graduated that summer. My wife and I have been married ever since as well (20 years). Some folks define the situation others let the situation define them.... "Scary" - scary ain't the word for it!

Loving the variety, and great growing conditions we've had this yr! Some of this growth is just amazing!

The tree cages I put around the chestnut trees are really showing the grazing pressure. The buckwheat really gets hit hard.

This little guy is trying to recover but I fear they took too much bark off. My hope is that Everbering mulberry can come up from root.
