The youngest checking out the scrape. He loves to pee in a scrape!

And more use of the planted rub post. It's getting some interest so I'm happy. 4 different bucks in the last couple of days.

They are loving it. The lady at the post office commented to them about it, the ladies at the bank had seen it, people at the football game had seen it, etc.
Great idea to make something for the wall with it. I should do that soon.

Not habitat related but something that I spend a lot of time on (actually takes away quite a bit from habitat). I coach Cross Country and my boys team qualified for State yesterday by placing 2nd at one of 4 Regional meets in the state. Proud of these kids for how they had to fight for it and some stuff they overcame to get it.

Sprints and hurdles. I am pretty sure "Mitch" is a track coach as well. My boy ran cross country his freshmen and sophomore years, but he really isnt built for distance!:D
Very cool! I coach track too: distance, polevault, hurdles, long triple and high jumps.

Not everyone is built for CC and it's not for everybody, but I've seen some kids tough through an awful lot in CC. Regardless of build or speed it can be pretty valuable.

Glad to see this guy still hanging around. I hope doesn't venture too far and get himself shot this yr. I think he would be a dandy next yr.

Congrats to the kids and kudos to you for taking the time to coach. Kids are kids for such a short period of time. Every moment spent with them is an investment in their future! On the habitat front...I gotta try one planting a rub tree. Never have done that. That buck above is a hawg! Hope you get a crack at him.

The article on your kids is really great! Definitely something you need to hang onto for the future!

Our grandson Eli has been in soccer for 3 years now and finally made his first goal yesterday. We are so proud of him!

I gave my son a pat on the back each week for gutting it out. He never once quit a race, finished everyone he started. The 2nd to last race last year he was sick to his stomach and was the last to finish, BUT he finished. We have some brutal courses here, probably every where, very hilly for an area that seems as flat as a pancake!

First time rub tree for me too. I'm getting a ton of pics on it and most of them are yearlings and does. They love the thing and are constantly rubbing their face on it and licking the branches. Of course I'm thinking all that doe and fawn activity will turn out to be a really good thing in a couple of weeks. I hope I don't get a crack at the buck above, I don't want to be tempted to shoot him!
The coaching thing is awesome and a major part of my life. Love doing it and love seeing kids accomplish their goals.
Thanks!

I think the older kid is going to make a frame for the magazine in wood class.
Great for Eli! My boy played soccer a couple of yrs and didn't score a goal. Same with club wrestling... only won a couple of matches in a couple of seasons. It's really important when I kid finally scores after playing for so long. The kids who score more can sometimes take it for granted, a kid who never scores loves it when it finally happens. Great for him!!!

Doing something so hard and not finishing up front shows a lot of character! Some of the best races in the race are towards the end. I firmly believe that some of the toughest kids finish in the back, it isn't easy for them.
Congrats to your kid and you! I've always admired the athletes who had the tenacity to stick with something that unpleasant.

Good job for your dad to send in the pics. Kids do enjoy. Thanks for all you do for them and the cross country team.
