Fall Plot Planting and Rain Forecast

Rained again today and More rain forecasted tonight and tomorrow.

Then a 2 day break

After that 7 more days of a high probability in a row. If the forecast hasn’t changed by Wednesday, I’m going ahead and planting everything. With this much rain right now, I would almost guarantee a fall drought at the perfect planting time. I’ve seen this happen too many times before.

Earlier Today. They are hitting it.

They have topped nearly every buckwheat plant in the plot. That's good, because it's giving the chicory and clover a chance to grow. I should have a good plot here come hunting season.

The holes in the existing clover plot are filling in slowly but surely.

Wow, what I wouldn’t give for that green!!!

I'll be planting brassicas into the dust next week. I've never put them on the ground with less expectation, but I ordered them a month ago, so I'll do it anyway. Dust has always kicked my tail in terms of allergies, so I might order a gas mask too.

Damn rain, I sprinkled out a bag of wheat on Monday and all of the storms last night missed me by a stone's throw.

Anytime we get a long wet spell, my hunting neighbor and I say "Let's plant food plots and it will quit raining"

Not to worry about my bag of wheat the 15 minutes of rain that just went through put darn near an inch in the rain gauge. There may be more trailers floating down the creek here in Kentucky.

Nice to know all you water bugs are thinking of each other over there in the rainforest!!:D

We are thinking about you too, and after living on that side of big muddy for 10 years I do have an understanding for what you are going through. I watched a lot of rain clouds travel across Iowa just to evaporate before they reached my back porch. I hope that you get some rain to help those big bucks.
