Why that every time they have rain in the forecast(70%+) and you go to plant, the rain never comes? Now it’s not calling for rain until next Thursday. I put seed down on Tuesday seeing the rain in the forecast. Irritating.

I spent the summer watching 70% chances turn to 10% the day we were supposed get it, then get nothing. 1st frost yesterday. I'm sure the birds have all the WR seed eaten by now, even if it did rain which it won't in the next 10 days.

I overseeded clover and alfalfa plots in the rain last wk. Easiest way to know if rain is for real even if I did get soaked.

I would like to have done that but work got in the way. One day I’ll have a drill to use and won’t worry about it as much.

Same here. Planted a week ago with rain in the forecast, but it rained at home, not on my lease. I haven’t planted at home yet. The good news is, nothing has germinated at the lease, so if we get the rain forecasted for the next three days, that will germinate, and I’ll plant here. That can be done in one day. One way or the other, it usually manages to get done.

It was supposed to rain for 2 days. It rained the week before from the hurricane, but I didn’t plant because they were calling for 3-5” and I didn’t want to plant and the creek flood and carry a lot of it away. We only got 2” and the creek never broke its banks. We do have rain in the forecast for Thurs, Fri, Sat, so hopefully it gets some. The good news is, the nights have been in the 50’s and 60’s so there has been plenty of dew to help them along.

We had a pretty good rain here this morning so I think the plots that I had planted will do ok now if the army worms don’t get them. I’ll have to plant here at home later this week after the rain is over, but I looked at my plots yesterday and they are ready. I sprayed them a couple weeks ago and there’s no new growth to speak of.

Not a drought here, but it's been a kind of dry summer, and now it's a kind of dry fall here. Needless to say, we are lucky to have some food plots, but they are hurting. Send rain our way please.

Forget the moisture. Go perennial. There's a blend for that.

Its that dry here that our perennial clover is struggling to stay green.

We’ve had a dry summer as well—about 6” behind normal for the summer. It has really creamed my brassicas. Tonnage is probably 30% of a normal year. Interestingly, my corn is as good as it’s ever been, and the clover is in great shape. I attribute the clover success to our heavy dews. Fall grains plantings are not great, but ok. Supposed to see an inch Tuesday. I’m going to overseed a my remaining 3 Of rye bags into the brassicas. If snows don’t pile up early, it should help. I did notice that it’s raining acorns right now....so the deer should be fine with all of our browse.
