This is a quote from after those hunts last year... Lets see how many we got done!
"Well now our rifle either sex season has come to a close it is time to get back on track with our land improvements. We have a pretty good list for this year and it will be even more expensive than last years fence project. Our goal is to have our Cabin/Home built, well dug, electricity brought in, gate moved, Prescribed burns, Hinge cuts and 1 more food plot and waterhole created
We are looking to build on the opposite side of the county road than we have been hunting to create a smaller foot print on that side. This will also allow us to bring electricity in from a direction that won't make our electric easement a sendero for us or our neighbors. By speaking with those around us our well will probably be about 150 feet deep and water will be good. We are going to build a modest 2 downstairs bedroom with a loft bedroom upstairs cabin of around 1,000-1,200 SF and a covered porch front and rear.
Our gate project which will be on both sides of the road will move our gate from the west area it is now up towards the east and will be welded pipe entryways straight across the road from one another. May not actually fence that side but will make any vehicle access have to use a gate.
I have observed the natural deer movement this fall and it looks like we have an ideal place for a plot in the center of the North 40. Looks like we will do about 1 acre there. Unlike the other plot I think we will push all the trees to the north as a screen along that edge with a couple openings and keep the other sides clean with a bit of edge feathering. Rocks from fist to head size will be present it looks like and will be something I have to deal with once the dozer is done. I am also looking at putting a small waterhole on the north side of that plot as well if the clay base is as good as it was where our other waterhole is. I am looking to hinge our north boundary about 200 yards across and also hinge our pine ridge for bedding. I am also needing to hinge our west boundary a little ways out from our neighbors because with the leaves off I can see their house from over 660 feet through the open woods. I am also wanting to do some plantings in that area to reduce visibility and possibly help with noise reduction as sound carries amazingly well up in this area."
