"Whitetail Hollow" - 90 Acres NE Oklahoma.

Last day of rifle deer season today here in Oklahoma until a couple weeks from now when they start another 10 day rifle doe season because we apparently absolutely hate deer here... still getting good daylight buck movement here on our farm...the only buck I can’t account for is “Ten”...he disappeared a few days before the 16 day rifle season began and he was the most visible day walking buck we had that had any age to him. He is 5.5 years old and I said “is” because I am still hopeful the old boy made it but in the 4 years I have watched him he never disappeared like this...

This is the last photo I have gotten of him...

They aren’t out of the clear yet as archery season runs til 01/15/20 but it is looking better...

I also have to be careful when getting on machinery. It's easy to charge full speed ahead and end up doing more than you wanted.

Me too but I am thinking the worst...

It is crazy how fast you can change the landscape with a bulldozer. Gotta pace myself, get off every little bit and make sure I want to do whatever I am getting ready to do...

There is a pretty special buck that the neighbor and I have been keeping tabs of for a while. He hasn't been seen by either one of us since March. I'm still hopeful he'll show up next year...

Yes, that is Big 8... he’s a real old timer... I think his rack has peaked because he has looked just like that the past 3 years...

Got up this morning and loaded the tractor and Brushhog up and headed to the other farm where the dozer is. My wife and I have decided we would like to run a few cows over there so I am trying to reclaim the old pasture that has mostly been completely overrun with massive blackberry thickets. Here are a few pics of what I have done in about 2 days over there...

And you haven’t lived until you have done some of this...notice the wire...

Will reseed with Bermuda and clover. Those areas of bare dirt are what was under mountains of blackberry briars and I used the root rake to try and get as many roots out as I could...it works great and I am glad I kept it! Will just have to keep it brushhogged down when they pop up again from the ones I didn’t get...

That little pond is a real leaker...there is a spring that feeds it but the dam leaks at the bottom in the center. It is a marsh back there and eternally wet and swampy and no way to use the dozer below the dam...I know, I almost stuck it back there real good today. I almost want to just drain the pond and let as much dry as possible over time and then rebuild the dam but that is probably not gonna happen. My next plan is a new pond over closer to the original home 10 area. No spring but the ground will be dry enough to work in...

Build a new damn behind the pond. Make it about 3ft tall and place a gate in it. Plant millet or rice, then close the gate right before duck season...

That would be cool if I could get the dozer back there but I would sink it pretty quick. Heck I drove across it on my Kubota today and almost didn’t make it out on that! It’s really soupy below that pond bank all the way past the property line...

I have a buddy with the same exact dozer...all I could think today was he is gonna be POed when I call and ask him to leave whatever job he is on to come pull me out...lol

That barbed wire looks like Gaucho. If so, be careful. That stuff has some crazy memory and whips all over the place. I about lost an eye to it once....

Yep, good old gaucho wire....you are correct about how it remembers the shape and tries to whip back to it even years after it has been a straight fence. The cut end is particularly dangerous to eyes like you mentioned.

I love a good burn and with the taller the grass, the taller the flames! Looks like your getting some good seat time as well.

Serious question.....What's your thoughts on the free choice feeder? Do you think it pulls mature deer to your land? Pros or Cons? I'm sure your neighbors have the spin feeders or doing the piles of corn.
