Whats your bow of choice?

I’ve had my Mathews Halon 32 about 4 seasons. I bought the 2021 V3 a few weeks ago. I still haven’t decided to part with my 32, that bow is a shooter!

I buy a bow and use it for a couple of decades. I'm currently on a 08 Bear "GameOver". Partly because I'm CHEAP, and partly because I don't want to learn a new bow every couple of years. Had an old guy tell me once to beware the guy with only one gun... he probably knows how to use it.

Still the occasional 20 yo ? Mathews Z Light and mostly the 10 yo Great Plains recurve. I've got older bows still hanging in shop if we want to go there? And with the amount of hunting I got to do this year they all should easily last into another generation!

I’m not a frequent upgrader. Running a 5 year old Matthews No Cam and not in a hurry to do anything different. It’s a real easy shooting bow and I couldn’t care less about speed.

I'm using my 2009 Mathews Z9 this season. Bought the son a 2019 Mathews Vertix with all accessories last week. Ordered a set of modules for it and looking forward to seeing him use it. He shot it a few times with the draw too short and it was very quick and quiet. Got a Toelke Whip that I messed with a bit last year. Going to shoot it some more as well.

The Matthews Z9 is a great bow, pretty much on about the same level as the new bows being offered today. (I think the Z9 was made in 2011), I'm still shooting a Matthews Reezen from 2009 and I can't tell a huge difference to the new bows at the archery shop, that's why I'm not upgrading yet. Although I've never owned one, the Switchback is probably one of the biggest archery breakthroughs of our generation and the thing that really put Matthews on the map.
My son just bought a V3 last summer and, while it's a big pile of change, it definitely continues the Matthews tradition of smooth and fast and is a bow that he will probably still be shooting in 10-15 years from now.

Almost bought a Switchback once. I was buying bows every 10 years, 1990, 2000 and I guess this Z9 must have been 2012. I know it was 1 year old when I bought it. I bought some of the Grizzly Stick arrows last fall and have shot them a few times. The Z9 got a new string last year so mainly messing with arrows this year I think. May apply for some archery tags near home this year besides the KS hunt.

My first bow (as a serious adult anyway). Made some good memories with that one. First bow killed turkey, hog, and deer.

Didn’t kill anything this year but it was fun shooting some spots with the new bow. The two bows look totally different but the draw cycle has some similarities. Dropped my Z7 down to 62 pounds and that made a world of difference.

Wow, that's the type of buddies to have! I have dropped the draw weight on my Matthews as well, an it's nicer to shoot.

I guess he looked at it as a lease payment I don’t make him pay for hunting the farm! And he has full reign on the turkey hunting and that’s what he cares about the most! Let’s just say it’s a win win for all of us!

Still using my 2012 Mathews HeliM. All the new ones seem like tanks compared to this one. I’ll stick with it for awhile still.

Bought a Mathew’s VXR 2 years ago and love it. Held onto my HeliM and still like to shoot that a bit too.

Got my son's used 2019 Mathews Vertix setup. He bought 30.5" Gold tips and 125 grain field points. Arrow weighed 440 grains. With his draw length and a 70# module installed, I chronographed it at 285 fps. Have to say I no longer like drawing 70 pound bows lol. That said this thing certainly is packing a punch with this combination. Anxious for bow season to get here again.

The last few bows we have bought have been 2-3 years old with steep discounts. Really seems to be a good alternative for guys trying to get started in archery.
