Whats your bow of choice?

One thing about bow hunters - we are all different. I started with a Bear Whitetail bow as a kid - went to an Eagle Phantom - and then "graduated" to a Mathews MQ32 probably 10 years ago. I know there are newer faster bows but I really love that little bow - and I don't feel the need to upgrade still.

A Ten Point cross bow with a fixed 4x xbow scope on top. I like the accudraw cocking feature of the Ten Point. Sight in at 20 yards and it is deadly out to 40 if I do my part. Before I was forced by health issues to use a crossbow, I shot a Mathews.

I started out with and still have the following bows, a Browning Wasp recurve when I was a kid. My first compounds were Hoyt Defiant Fast Flight, and Parker Super Mag 35. Now I have a Bow Madness.

I have owned and loved quite a few different bows over the past 30+ years....but currently I am extremely pleased with my Elite Energy 32. Before that I shot a Hoyt...before that a Mathews....and before that a High Country, a Browning and I started off with a Bear.
Like most things in life that require tools...the tool in this case is far better than the person holding it, I am afraid.
These days, I believe that would be the case no matter what brand I were to choose. I just really loved how firm the back wall on this bow is and how shock-less and quiet the release is in my hand.

Started out with a Bear Whitetail II and killed two deer the first year. I said " There ain't much to this bowhunting " and went the next three seasons with no hit, no runs, etc. I left bowhunting for awhile and then my oldest son got into it so I bought myself a used High Country and killed a doe. Since then, an MQ 32, an Outback, a Z71, and then shoulder problems. I heard folks talking about the smooth drawing Elite bows, so I bought an Elite Pure used. I liked it so much, I bought a used Answer. Then a couple years ago I got a chance to buy a like new E35 for about $250 off the new price, and that's what I'm shooting now. It and myself will leave in about three weeks to go and shoot a speed goat ( if we're lucky ) !

First bow was a Bear/Jennings way back in the day. After keeping that for quite a while, I saved up money by working at a 3D course and bought a High Country. After the High Country I moved to a Hoyt and just recently bought a new Hoyt Carbon Defiant 34. Each bow I've owned for at least 6 years and plan on keeping the new one for that long too.

I started out with a Bear I bought at the pawn shop. Next bow was a PSE from the pawn shop. After that was a Hoyt MagnaTec, then Jennings Buckmaster G2 I had for about 15 years and would still be shooting it if someone had not stolen it out of my truck, then bought a bowtech, bowtech exploded when I released on a yote a week later, then bought a Matthews Chill. I don't know what the deal is with the bowtech. I know quite a few people who have owned them and love them. I think I just got one with an issue. The bow shop was not good when I took it in but Bowtech refunded my money the next day. I can't complain about their service at all. Bow shop owner tried to say I shot it dry. I think I know a little better than that. I am not brand loyal at all. I will shoot what feels best at the time I am ready to buy. When I bought the Matthews I also shot the no cam. I really liked it but the Chill just felt right. I'm happy with my decision. I'm ready to schwack one now. Good luck to all this season.

Started bow hunting in '73 with a Bear Kodiak Magnum recurve. Sold it to a co-worker for $50. Wish I still had it. Went to a Browning compound followed by an Oneida Screaming Eagle which I loved. Replaced that with a Mathews Legacy that I liked but not as much as the Hoyt Katera XL that I currently shoot. Thinking about a new bow now but love the Hoyt.

A little late to this party but really enjoying reading everyone's evolution thru their bow hunting years. Bought my 1st bow in 1972 when I was 16 - Shakespeare Wonderbow - 48" and couldn't hit the broad side of a barn. There were hardly any deer back then. Never even saw one while hunting with that thing. Compounds became legal here around 1976. Bought me a Whitetail II and never shot at a deer with it. Around 1989, when the boys were 12 and 13, we got into archery in a big way. Bought a Martin Firecat and started harvesting deer. Boys shot Martin Lynx bows and whacked plenty. Dan Quillian was one of the modern day advocates of bowhunting in GA and owned Archery Traditions archery shop and was a huge Martin dealer. Plus, had his own line of longbows and recurves made. Shot a couple more compounds over the years and then decided to enter the trad side of archery in 2014. Ordered a Black Widow PT IV in ironwood - 48#. Love the bow and basically never having to touch it for tuning. Don't shoot many deer but enjoy shooting targets and the occasional deer and pig. Have one of Dan Quillian's longbows on the wall but not very accurate with it.

I fully intended to buy a new Matthews this past spring when I was in the market for a new bow as my last bow was a Matthews and I liked it very much. The guys in the bow shop insisted that I at least shoot an Elite before making my decision. Needless to say, I now shoot an Elite Impulse 34. Shooting it made the choice easy.

I have owned the Bowtech 2009 Admiral bowstring, Assassin, Insanity and RPM 360. I have handed down or sold all but my Admiral. I have yet to find a bow that I shoot as well as this one. I am debating on making a change this year to Elite or Hoyt. I bet I still hold onto my Admiral though.

I also have a bowtech 2009 admiral and I love it. I have to say though I'm surprised to see that so many people have multiple different bows. I think shooting is all in the head it certainly doesn't have much to do with what bow you have.

Looks like work got me again for this summer and all the way through September so it looks like I will be carrying the Bowtech Assassin this fall. I really wanted to use my BW recurve again but I am one of those guys that has to practice quite a bit with my recurve to get my head in sync with my shooting. I can usually step out of the house and make a good shot right off the bat with my BW but unless I have shot it a bunch doubt creeps in and I start finding myself thinking "don't miss" which ends up being the exact wrong thing to be thinking at that time...

My Assassin is 70 lbs at 29.5" draw and 1 pin is good to 30 yards for me...

I currently shoot a DAS recurve bow, Obsession Phoenix compound and a Bear X FFL Bruzer crossbow, just depending on the situation.

I have owned Bear, Mathews, Quest, and Prime and out of all those the Obsession Phoenix is the smoothest drawing, best shooting bow I have owned

I currently shoot a Hoyt Spyder Turbo. I have been an avid bow hunter since 1967 and it is the sixth bow I have owned. Might well be the last. Not sure they will improve them enough over the next 15 years for me to spend another $1000 on a bow.

Halon 70#, 30" draw. Glad I had the speed, when I shot a buck last season without realizing the arrow jumped off the rest. I hit the deer in the back of the skull.
