Those fish look familiar...I spent a week up there around Fairbanks the middle of July. All I got to fish for were greyling although we did see a few kings way up the chena river.

A pretty nice view, but there are lots of those in Alaska...

eman...How nice is that to have family with property in AK! Thanks for sharing the pics. Caught a dozen or so of those the 1st afternoon. Pretty sure the name of the lake where the lodge is located is called Six Mile Lake. We took boats up to the headwaters where the river flowed into the lake and caught the greyling in the river just north of the lake.

That's awesome. Your place looks great as well. I used to follow on the QDMA forum and check it out on the GON forum as well. Coincidentally I live in Oglethorpe county, I only have an acre and a half, but my parents have 80 some odd just outside of winterville. I have just started doing habitat stuff on there place, and it's inspiring to see all that you guys do

Triple C, I just returned from Alaska as well. Got back on Sunday. I started in Juneau, hiked to a glacier, thru an ice cave and up the glacier for a bit. Flew to Anchorage, for some mountain biking with the moose in Kincaid Park, down to Seward for some kayaking, back to Anchorage, then took a 6 seater to a gravel sand bar to a float plane to Katmai for bear viewing, then made our way up to Talkeetna for some sockeye fishing (I limited out in 20 mins and had to sit and watch for the next 2.5 hours for the rest of the group to limit, then we got to move to a chum hole for catch and release), then up to Denali National Park for some more hiking with the moose. Finally making it up to Fairbanks where we went on some more hikes and to Chena Hot Springs on Friday. Sounds like we were in the same general area...

That's awesome! We had to have just about crossed paths at Katmai. We fished the Moraine river in Katmai and encountered a couple of bear viewing groups. Spectacular country!

Thx jvanhees! Unlike epic drought last year, this year has seen plentiful rain and relatively mild temps. Alaska was exceptional.

Monthly Update...
Last update was a month ago. We mowed all the plots and then sprayed the following weekend to kill all vegetation in plots.


Then had 18 tons of lime spread on all plots.


Waited a week and fertilized at 250 lbs per acre of 19-19-19. Ran over all with a disc to help in corporate the lime and fert into the soil.


This past weekend we planted radishes and turnips. Pretty much a no-till planting just running the planter thru the dead thatch in the plot. At the end of this month or 1st of October, we'll plant grains and clover.


Celebrated our daughter's birthday. The boys surprised her with a new bow. She's never bow hunted before but it didn't take her long to dial it in from 20 yds. Brooks is giving her pointers on her form.


And we always eat good. Been going much healthier here lately. No bread, lots of fresh veggies.


Got a good rain again yesterday and it was moist when we planted so germination should be very good. With Irma coming closer, looks like another good rain event for next week. I'll post pics of planted areas next time down.

Looks like some work getting done on the ranch. How come you didn't have lime truck put down your fert? My son been on road all the time so my weak butt has done work alone, always good to have help.
So I'm thinking the man likes a little pepper on his food maybe??

OR buy a second tractor with a front end loader and lift the giant bag over the spreader and open the bag spout to let it flow into the spreader. My neighbor and I have shared tractors before to make that happen. It sure is quick and easy.

Ha! Actually have a second tractor. You can see it in the pic above where the fert is being loaded in the spreader. Thought about trading both in for a cab tractor but decided it was more useful having 2.
