Got the stand up today. Beautiful day for it.

You got it up! How did you anchor the legs?

two are dug in about a foot just to get it level. I’ll probably just add a u-post or two and screw them into the legs. I typically don’t do much more than that. Haven’t had a problem yet doing it this way.

Pounding prepunch angle into the ground beside each leg and leg bolting to the post works well.

That’s basically what I do with the u-post. These aren’t very tippy to begin with (and I only use 8’ legs) and if we have a big enough wind to knock it over there’s probably not much you can do about it.

Stand probably got a test with a good wind tonight. Hopefully it’s still standing. Find out this weekend.

I get nervous too when I put up a blind and the legs aren't anchored yet and a storm rolls through. When I dig a post into the ground I always put a short rebar through it about 3" up from the bottom. That really makes them come out hard.

Sounds like it survived but we have to clean up a tree that fell over a trail. Will probably add a couple posts to it this weekend.

Your family has a beautiful place! I ordered late from Northern Whitetail Crabs this year too, I was very impressed with the trees.

Been getting some work done even in the heat.

Setup my new atv sprayer and sprayer a small 1/4 acre plot. Have another 1/2 acre to do soon. Wish I would have bought one years ago!

I tilled up a strip this spring and planted some Bison Big Bluestem. I’m not exactly sure what it’s supposed to look like but maybe it’s a success so far?

Took a few hours and built this base today. Got as far as I could by myself. Got a soft sided redneck to go on it next month.

These are from our river bottom property. Apples on every tree (29 apples/crabs). Clover looks good after mowing.

I hope that coon damage pic isn’t a sneak peak into my future. Coons have torn up our sweet corn in years past. That was bad enough, them tearing up trees one day might put me over the edge!

Unfortunately, this isn’t the first tree of mine they’ve damaged. Just the latest. It really sets the tree back when they break the central leader. It’s a 5th leaf Trailman that was loaded with fruit for the first time. SLN tree on antonovka.

Got one plot (1/4 acre) prepped. Used the drag I just bought last week for the first time. Definitely worked better with less thatch. I had sprayed half of this back in May where 4-5’ weeds were last year. The other half was just sprayed 2 weeks ago. Drag not as effective there but that will be mainly clover so it should come in fine with a little rain. Rest is brassica mix from Welter. Also throw in a small amount of AWP. Neighbors field/stand in the last pic. This is on our west line. My stand is on the right in the 2nd to last pic. Will be good till all leaves are off. Kind of an hourglass shape plot.

That's the smartest way to set up a base. Assemble upside down, then flip upright.
