Daytime photos in the wide open are great...I used to get those in heavy cover but dogs running our place all summer have done a number on the daytime photos...

We get dogs on camera occasionally. Thankfully so far they tend to just pass through and have not become regulars.

I'm curious about your manure compost plots... Have you had any weeds pop up in them yet? I'm wondering if any seeds came in with it. I think it's a great idea and have considered doing the same but haven't yet. I would think it should make an outstanding plot!

Though I don’t have a picture of the weeds, we had them. After I planted, we got 2 big rains. After the first my brassicas and oats came on strong. It took the second big rain and I was covered in pigweed... No worries. I sprayed that half with Butyrac.

I sacrificed the brassicas, but left the oats growing fine and hopefully any clover that had germinated.

As usual, the boys of summer are becoming less regular on camera. The does are continuing to hammer the mineral which holds promise for later this year. Here is the only new picture of the wide 10. I feel he is old enough to be a target this year.

I have 2 years of sheds from this 8 point. If he can survive the outfitter next door, he could be great next year!

And finally a stud young 10. He has the genetics to be special. Unfortunately he is young and probably dumb, and therefore unlikely to survive said outfitter...

We had this pretty guy show up on my foodplot. If he is the buck I think he is, he should be 4-1/2 this year. I’d give him a pass. Unfortunately he too will probably get shot on the outfitter next door....

Isn't that the truth... She said she needs a little more wheel time before she tries to meet productivity. Ha! I put her on the 4-wheeler with the cultipacker this year.

Virgin bowhunter? I say "if it's brown it's down"! I've know quite a few guys who took up bow hunting and were hung up on antler size for their first deer... it seldom turns out productive for them. I recommend to just go shoot something and have fun with it. (plus it lets some of those almost really big bucks live a yr longer)

I hear ya, Cat. I only took up bow hunting to be able to spend more time on stand. I have always been able to fill the freezer late doe season. I just enjoy being outside when it’s cold.

Well, the greens look great! Before the last round of storms, I over seeded some of this with rye. Yesterday I threw down some urea as well. When the greens wilt down, hopefully the rye will fill the gap.
