I harvested this gobbler on my walk back to the truck. I saw a hen run from the pasture into cedars, so I got behind my fan and inched forward; spotting two gobblers. The gobblers saw the fan, but didn't move toward me. On the other hand, the gobblers didn't spook as I moved closer. The night before I got out my scoped slug gun and exchanged the barrel for a full choke. As I inched into position I split the fan with the barrel of the gun,and put the crosshairs on a white head. I got bit by the scope, but I got my gobbler!

Boy has the drought ended!!! I've had a foot of rain in one week, that fell on super saturated soil! A 20 foot tall levy on my little trickle of a river was flattened, along with fences and anything that got in the way of a raging torrent. This is hill country, so flooding water rages and is back inside the banks in about a day.

And then it really rained! This is the T intersection that was behind me in the 1st pic. The woods to the left is, "The Brushpile", which was a pasture in 2009. Across the road my neighbor's pasture is totally under water.
No this isn't the Mississippi. LOL This is a stretch of the Little Pomme de Terre River that is normally only a few feet wide.
This vehicle risks driving through a flooded road during a flash flood warning, while I turned around. The vehicle did not turn right to cross the high water bridge, which was under water.
To the right of the powerline the high water bridge is creating white water, as water crashes over and through.

I replaced NWSG with Alfalfa, creating 5 small plots. Believe it or not erosion has washed out portions and growth has been hampered by saturated soil; I has been wet all Spring. Pics of the Brushpile will show vegetation exploding, and if there are timely rains in July and August, there will be an explosion of fruit and nuts!
I will be posting pics of NICE throw and grow food plots, as well as phenomenal tree growth. Nothing beats rain! Some plantings have drown, but that's okay, most everything else is exploding with new growth.

I will be fertilizing food plots in the morning. Everything is growing and fertilizer! I haven't been able to fertilize in 8 years!
