House and Habitat build thread:

Lol, drove a circle around us!
As far as towns go I really like Tulsa. I've lived in KC and never again, but Tulsa would work if I had to live in a city.

I didnt care for what I saw of Tulsa, but I am biased I dont like cities at all no matter what size they are. I did see some countryside on the trip that looked like it could hold a big buck or two.

Did something I've never done before (actually quit a bit of new stuff); drove 14hrs to fish for 1 day and then drove 14hrs back home. Saw lots of cools stuff and had a blast doing it!

Probably not much for big bucks on that drive. ;)

Cat! That clover plot full of flowers is about the coolest damn thing I've ever seen! Holy crap is that cool! I know just where I can put something like that. Consider that idea shared and sent north buddy.

There were more than 10 deer in that plot this morning at sun up. Mostly bucks... with their faces buried.

To dark to take good pics with my phone.

You the traveling man. Catch fish in the midwest and then the east coast. Now go west young man. Traffic about the same in DC as Kansas isn't it? :)

Ha! Traffic in DC and Virginia sucks! At least it's fast paced. I can hang with fast, I would go nuts in those slow traffic jams.

I've been trying a different chemical this summer on broadleafs. So far it seems to work well. Folliar application to Locust and Hedge is killing them and there seems to be no root suckering from the Locust. This could be a good thing for me!

FIL's beans are starting to canopy. We've had some timely rains and they are looking great. He's had issues the last couple of yrs with Marestail and Johnson Grass. I think he may have it figured out but I bet he still has a battle ahead of him.

I have 4 Che trees planted (as well as quite a few pears, apples, crabs, and other stuff).
This is what they looked like when we left for Virginia...

This is what 2 of them look like now. They pushed the cages of 2 of the trees and hammered them. I re-staked the cages (a little better than before) and hope they will make it.

Had a storm come through a couple of mornings ago. The storm wasn't bad and the rain was welcomed, but the wind that swept through behind the storm caused some havoc. Broke quite a few of my corn plants down and the one's that didn't break are leaning strongly.

The rest of the summer plots are looking good. Sunflowers and sorghum are doing great. Not a lot of the millet is showing. I used old seed so I may have a germination issue, not sure. I can't find a single Austrian Winter Pea. Either the deer ate them up, they couldn't compete, or they just don't like the weather.

This is what the majority of my sunflowers well end up looking like. Deer love these things. I would like to have a field of flowers for the wife and birds... but this is some great nutrition for a deer so it's a good trade-off.
