Drought and Survival

It is dry real bad here in Ms. My 17 sawtooth oaks never made a single acorn. This has never happened in 15 years since i planted them.
We been trying to kill wild hogs on the place and they wont even come to the corn., no deer in sight this fall at all.
Oh well i can practice shooting and fishing, if i can find some water. suppose to get a little rain today ????

What did u end up getting?

We got 2”, everyone in the general area reported 1-2”. The popular, local weather guru is predicting 7-10” this weekend, if he’s right, that would be the biggest rain since May of 21. We’ll see what happens. I’d gladly give up a few days of hunting to see my in-law’s ponds get filled back up.

We got about a 1" here , supose to get more tonight late. Our ponds are down about a foot or two in most places.
A ton of leaves came off the trees though.

Our place near Branson received around 2" last thursday, not sure what the total was over the weekend, but looks to be solid. So glad my father and I got my uncle to come around and spread some winter rye grain out last wednesday. I wish they would have spread more as our plots from labor day were just about dusted. however, I will take whatever they did and pray next year is not another weird drought.

We're still getting the best multi-day rain we've had in over 3.5 years. It is WONDERFUL! We should be getting close to 10" in totals by the end of the day.

My little area of southern Ohio had me reach out to Whitetail Institute about their cactus and tumbleweed blend; Cac Rack....

Being an out of state land owner and seeing the last two years being bad (with ' 24 being a 150yr drought) .....it makes a fella wanna give up. Trees, water holes, plots, etc...... I have struggled hard with this place and do believe things would be way better with appropriate rain fall
