Blind windows

I am building a blind similar to a redneck. I am planning to make my windows without frames and I'm wondering if anyone else had done this? Can I use acrylic or do I need to use polycarbonate. I'm thinking I will fasten hinges directly to the glass. What thickness should i use? Anybody else do this before? Thanks in advance.

I have always used vinyl siding "J" channel ,run horizontal, with multiple pieces of plexi as sliders. Quiet. You can easily vary the size of your opening based on your needs. IMO ,no better way.

What I am really wanting to do is seal it for scent reasons so I would like to have hinged windows. My question is how strong glass do I need and how to hinge it. Thanks for your idea though.

Never been winded. Can crack slider just enough to poke the rifle barrel out. Most of our boxes are set on one section of scaffold, so they are not high. Boxes don't have to be air tight,Window movement when opening gives you away. If you have one already open ,why do they have to be air tight?

Well for one I bow hunt so I can't just crack the window open. Plus I have tall narrow windows in the corners so I couldn't even do those that way. And I would like to be able to use it in swirling wind conditions to hold my scent till right before the shot.

I see what your after. But don't people shoot out of pop ups horizontal windows? You don't say how high you want your box. I have shot out of my boxes with a bow ,through a 6"X 12" opening. IMHO ,experience has taught me a slider goes undetected most of the time. Hinged ? Almost never because the reflection moves. But good luck. Maybe you could go with multi piece vertical windows? You could try clear silicone to glue hinges on the plexi and/or glass.

Doe shooter, that is my experience also when it comes to reflection when moving hinged windows and deer within bow range.

I changed all my blind windows to sliders and added large overhangs because of that problem. Haven't been busted since.

Some of the windows I have made that couldn't slide left or right are vertical sliders pulled open by cord.

I guess I never considered the fact that they might see the glass moving. I just assumed that if they can do it in a redneck then it wouldn't be a problem.

Lavon,
I used the below channels with the polycarb on the menards link. There are several sizes to choose from. I usually got the 18x24 and cut them to what I needed. I either made a two slider window, a three slider like doe shooter, or a single vertical slider. I also use the rolls of adhesive weather stripping to make them airtight. I won't say they are completely airtight but they deer don't seem to scent me as they will come from any direction on where a few of these blinds are.

Lavon, the blinds that these windows are installed in are used for regular bow, cross bow, and gun. All methods have taken deer out of these blind windows. The blinds range from 7' to 16' high at base.

I worked construction before I retired and when we did demo ,I never let a piece of plexi go in the dumpster. I cut all pieces to a uniform 12 3/4" height and never worried about the width, but they generally went from 6 to 12 inches wide with a 1" overlap on each piece till you fill up the window.I got some boxes with 8 pieces on a 4 foot width. Smaller pieces let you fine tune the opening better when the time comes.

Thanks for those ideas not sure how I'm gonna do it now because of the way my corner bow windows are.attachedis a picture of my blind. The grew trim is where the windows will be.
