Advice for new cabin build please

Swat, for the fill you mentioned, would the material they take from the excavation be used for that and the rest gravel brought in? #2 stone I had trucked in for my driveway was $9 a ton. So their 22 ton loads were costing me like 200 bucks a truck load.

I can relate to that Savanna; When we had our two barns built on very hilly ground and 1/4 mile off the road the gravel bill was over $10,000.It was a hard cost to get used to but now fifteen years later we are glad we did it. Adding extra gravel around the barn sites to create more level ground ended up being very useful. Leanto's off of buildings create very cheap storage space and having the area level in the beginning made it possible to add leanto's later on. Of course it would have been cheaper to put lean to's on in the beginning had we known how useful they are.
 
You can use dirt, but it would have to be compacted. Don't know if it would be worth it or not, your contractor would probably have an idea.
