We watched the lightening of that storm last night from the deck. Hope you got rain... but none of the bad stuff that goes with red on the radar.Current situation...blue dot...

Lots of rain and lightning...power off and on 7 or 8 times but never longer than 30 seconds or so. My plot should have really liked that one...We watched the lightening of that storm last night from the deck. Hope you got rain... but none of the bad stuff that goes with red on the radar.

I hate when the power intermittently goes on and off. I run around the house like a crazy guys unplugging stuff. Replacing appliances is not my idea of a good weekend project. Glad you got the rain!Lots of rain and lightning...power off and on 7 or 8 times but never longer than 30 seconds or so. My plot should have really liked that one...
Rye Grain use is property dependent. I have another property that is mixed open cow pastures and woods and rye grain gets very little use there. Here in the deep woods I get a lot more use of it especially toward December and January. In late winter they are all over it! I like the rye grain for its allopathic properties and it is a great nurse crop and soil builder.Since we have similar climate, how well do the deer use your rye grain?

I forgot to ask you but what seeding rate do you plant rye and wheat?
I have tried the pelletized rice bran and it works until it gets wet at the port entries and then it get clumpy and stuck. Powdered would never work because of the same reasons.Okie, have you tried to put your rice bran in your Banks gravity feeder, if so does it feed flow through ok
I tilled 1 acre of my 2 acre plot and I put on 50 Rye, 50 wheat, and 50 oats and I did not cover it, I just let the rain that came after I got it done seat it in. I have a lot of turkeys and crows so I lose some but from what I am seeing now I got great germination this year. If I am throw n mowing I double it...
Getting showers again right now. I was at cruise night in Tahlequah tonight in my GTO when it came in. I am hoping the oats are a nice draw this fall but we do have a good white oak acorn crop so the plot may not be a big draw once those fall and it may be later in the year before they take off. I am very happy with Rye grain in my plots because it is perfect for soil building and also as a nurse crop. Good luck with your plots this fall. I think you will be happy with your choice.I'm going with 50 wheat, 30 rye and 20 oats per acre but I no till drill mine. Seem like when your rain is moving west to east I get the same storms as you but my place is in a straight line from you, I'm just a state over. I'm planting this coming Friday but that's the normal date I plant.
I was surprised rye was only $3.00 a bag more than wheat. Your plots are coming right along. Locking good! Now just get that grandson of yours on one of them big bucks.
