A few pics from past couple of weekends. Planted a few plots weekend before Labor Day weekend using the Plotmaster I bought back in 2011. Thing is still going strong and does a good job of planting.
Planted upper lower n lower lower plots in mix of wheat, oats, winter peas n radish.
Got a couple of the short ladder stands set for trad bow hunting. Looking forward to hunting out of these.
Planted access rd for the first time ever. Same mix as above. Broadcast a ton of lime on it.
Excellent germination 9 days after planting. This will be an action packed sit come November. Plenty of native browse and cover just steps away on either side.
View from the porch Saturday morning. I love this place.
Bout 10 hours of interior road work over this past weekend with track loader n mini-excavator. New water bars put in. Old ones repaired.
Bean field planted in wheat, oats, winter peas and radish.
Lower lower plot planted 9 days ago. Can’t tell from pic but good germination under way.
Son has a job going about 10 minutes from farm so he had his equipment in the area. Brought it from job on Friday and repaired all interior roads where needed. Pretty fortunate to have a son in the grading / land clearing biz that also loves hunting. Makes such a huge difference having access to the right equipment.
He and his buddy leave next Sunday for CO till the end of the month or an elk down. Nothing he enjoys more than his annual trek out west to chase elk. We decided to get the farm in shape and most everything planted prior to him leaving. We have the cabin field sprayed and prepped for planting and will do that ahead of a rain event in October.
That’s about it for now. Archery opener is this coming Saturday. It’s a glorious time of year! Best of luck to all this fall.
