Congrats to your son on the Turkey!

I think they are calling for more rain this week. Perhaps flooding...

Cooked some brats the other night. I always boil mine in beer before grilling when I get them at the store. I think these had a lot less fat. Once they came of the grill they were fairly dry. Flavor was good. I have about 25 more to perfect the cooking. I am thinking I will skip the boil next time.

Heading up to the property to turkey hunt this weekend = 100% rain tomorrow, 90% Sunday. Sounds about right.:mad:
 
Calling for 5 - 8" in our area...Drought should be gone after this weekend for the time being. Ponds that haven't been full in a long time should be full again and the lake near our home should finally be up enough to use the boat ramps again...

Calling for 8" in my area. My wife wants to go to farm and watch the flood. I don't how good the turkey hunting will be. Sit in a blind and put out the strutter decoy.

Raining and 45 degrees had to relocate to the kids blind. Not a peep from the turkeys about time to go walking.

I have no blind...not raining when I awoke but had been, took a calculated risk, geared up, went out and turkeys were gobbling their heads off and coming my way but then the bottom fell out of the sky and it really came down...I just got up and headed here to the house. Got home and it has let up some now but I was drenched. Sat on the porch listening to gobblers before I came in...thunder/gobble, thunder/gobble...

Congrats on the hunt with your boy! Brats look great. Get a few packages of the cheap bacon from the grocery store. I grind it in with my sausage, cheap insurance for extra fat & flavor.
 
My knack for picking the worst times to schedule time off continues. Three straight days of rain and 40 something degrees. Didn't hear or see a gobbler the whole time.

The brother in law got the bottoms planted in corn. Plenty of water.

The olives are fully leafed out in the brown grass, really depressing when they stand out so much.

Made short work of this one. Need to do some tuning on the carb. No idea why it took me this long to by a brush blade. Ideas for a prototype on board sprayer are now bouncing around in my head! Stay tuned.

Heck of a turkey! 24 lbs would be huge anywhere, I believe. That's a great shot with your son carrying the turkey over his back;its almost as tall as he is! Congratulations to you both.
 
What a great bird. Memories forever right there. I need one of those brush blades. I have several persimmon spots that need some cleaning out and that would work perfect.

Just remembered I forgot to post pictures of this guy last trip. Weird looking growth, thoughts? I left the cam set up hopefully he sticks around and I get a better pic.



 
No just lack of time. There will be some clover in it. I have went to pretty much all fall crops and clover. Plenty of ag for summer feed.
