1972-75, muskrat were $7, red fox $70. How much would that be in today's dollars, and what lengths would trappers go to if prices hit those levels?Sold my fur haul on Saturday. A small bobcat $25. Beaver $6. Five muskrats = $1.50 per. Grand total = $38.50. I wonder why nobody traps anymore! Buyer said coons were back up to $5-10 for really good ones. At least paid for the gas and taught the kid not to be wasteful.
(A tidbit of info; in the 1970s:Acrylic polymers created the first fully synthetic fur coats and faux fur became widely accessible and affordable, however, the environmental damage caused by microfibers shed from faux fur is a continuing concern)
