Thanks again! You been out much yet?I was in a hurry last time I posted... Congrats to you guys. What a great season and a couple of awesome bucks... and you got rain recently! Life is good!
What a great time to be in the woods, great pics! They were really moving this weekend around us as well. I'm sure that stud is running around out there somewhere.I hunted for the first time this weekend. Was a blast! Saw lots of critters and had plenty shot opportunities.

That in the front yard foodplot? I can see why you’re being picky!! You need to get your old journal rolling again with pics like all of these!Ya, I'm not sure what changed so that I could post pics. I gave up and didn't try for so long, I figure the site owner did some upgrades that I wasn't aware of.
A couple of those bucks made me think pretty hard, but ultimately I was happy to just watch them do their thing. There are some nicer ones around that I'd like a shot at, but no worries if not.

Actually, he might have gone down hill a little bit, but that’s tough to say exactly what size they are with big bodied deer unless you actually lay your hands on them. I was shocked when I first walked up on him, at just how much bigger he was than I thought; I rough scored him for an archerytalk team contest I’m a part of, and he scored 149, and I scored him pretty conservatively. He had to be at least 6, I’m guessing older, he definitely looks very mature in the ‘22 pics.2yrs between pics and harvest? Can you tell if he got bigger? I'm always curious about just how much our deer change after 3.5-4.5 yrs. Baker shows nice 8's blowing up into 8's with drop-tines and whatnot with age, but I wonder how often that happens without the nutrition he can give them.
2 new farmers on the fields down on the highway (just below our driveway) about the time the bees disappeared. The one north of us is really good at what he does. Very professional, put in drain tiles, has a spray drone, etc. Does everything just right. If anything I'd bet he sprays or does something that doesn't agree with the bees. That or it was just time for that particular hive to die out or move for natural reasons.
Thanks George!Nice buck. congratulations.
Cat, you are loaded up with bucks.

I quit planting purple top turnips and switch to radishes because our deer didn't seem to care much for turnips, they would take a bite out of a few and most would rot. Let us know how your deer clean these up.The rains finally came and the plots have responded. Better late than never! I wish we’d planted more brassicas, the one good rain they got in August kept them going until the rains came in November. Deer are all over them. Everything but the brassicas was t&m. It was wise to throw seed late and not have it on the ground for a long time; I’m hoping that will help the clover get established. It’s been a LONG time since we’ve had summer clover plots, and I’m hopeful for next year.

The bucks are being very hard on the cedars in the north waterway, but they’re big enough now that they can take the beating.

Deer aren’t the only ones that will enjoy the turnips, Dawna is a fan and this is the first we’ve had in 3 years.

There are purple tops, radishes, and rape all out there. They’ve just begun nibbling on the turnips, they’re still hitting the radishes and rape hard. The purple tops do well for us very late, when the ground is frozen and the radishes are long gone and mushy. There will be white bowls in the ground where they eat the inside out of the turnips when the ground is too hard to pull them up.I quit planting purple top turnips and switch to radishes because our deer didn't seem to care much for turnips, they would take a bite out of a few and most would rot.
