Stone Branch, build it, they will come.

Beautiful woods in their fall colors. Best time of year, IMO. Good luck getting that dandy buck!!

Milled wood ..... yellow (tulip) poplar? How does it air dry, if I can ask? Long process, warping, twist, etc.

Thank you Flatiron, tulips yes, so far so good. Lots of air flow through the barn and the stack seems to be fairly stable. There is less splitting than I anticipated.

The first look at a decent buck Thursday morning happened to be the one 10 that I said that I cannot shoot.

He walked.

passed buck (1200 x 680).jpg

He is safe, hiding out right above my camp.

Foggy Mountain Breakdown! Love these pics, fog and all. I picture the scene, backstraps will be sizzlin' an fryin' in the pan, and George working on scraping the skull clean while the dogs are laying in the beasrskin rug watching.
Let me recommend "Boars Night Out - White Lightning Seasoning" for the backstraps. Butter and Garlic flavor at its finest.
I know you have you deer memorized by age and pics, are you going to bless us with a bit of a story ofthis deer's history and stalking this buck this fall?

He has been a noble beast through the years, a lot of pictures, today was the first time that I have seen him with my eyes. I was calling him 5 years old, 4 years ago. He was working the girls up there steady the past couple of days.
