When I first saw it I thought elderberry, then i thought maybe dogwood. But leaves are opposite and elongate. Pictures below.

Green stem and brown bark are same plant, green is branched off main trunk just below picture

Any ideas?

The large green stem confused me. The leaf and flower look elderberry to me, but I cant understand why such a large green stem unless that is all this years growth. Maybe it is a variety of elderberry different from what I have seen. Leaves look a little more elongate than I thought they should for elderberry.

you were correct the first time. I think you've got a very happy plant there.

I hope so, I planted some elderberry seedlings this spring so it is nice to see what they will look like in the future!

The brown stems are "Elder Elderberry" and the green stems are non Elderly yet.......

Makes perfect sense now, that green stem just really threw me off! Makes me feel better about my initial ID.
