Nice. How many chestnut trees on the property? Would you prefer more?First chestnuts of 2025 falling today. This should continue into early November and deer will eat every one that hits the ground.

No, I never did plant any of those. There is no reason that I wouldn't plant them but just never got into them.Have you ever tried medlars?
All are doing fine except for Sweet November which died for some reason. However, they are still young and none have given significant crops. Big Dog really gave some nice fruit last year, and this year I liked the looks of the fruit a lot on Whole Season Crab. The fruit was crabapple sized but didn’t dry up into mummies like others I have seen. I had two big nice Advent pears and the hornets got the biggest one. I pulled the other one and have it in my basement to eat soon. How are your bluehill trees below doing?

No, everything is grown together, but attention is given to sunlight requirements of each species. For instance, a persimmon has more shade tolerance than an apple tree, but neither has the tolerance of Paw Paw.Amazing. Do you keep your persimmon orchard separate from other soft mass? Soft mass from hard?

Nice thread Sir.
