Kaleo Hills-Property tour

weekender...Can't think of a better way to spend an early Sunday morning than reading your property tour thread. Beautiful piece of property! Thanks for sharing. I'll be following along on your progress.

Maybe a few hundred crow miles between us but our lands look very identical. Managing in the mountains is a much different ballgame from weather to soils to typography . Frustrating and invigorating all in one. Good ride. I've enjoyed your show.

Thanks for following along, it has been fun so far and I'm really looking forward to helping this property reach it's full potential. My updates will be spread out pretty far over the next few years but I'll make sure to keep them coming when I can.

I got to see one of our resident bobcats last week. He was so big I initially thought he was a deer. He was hunting up a ridge in closed canopy forest and I was walking around with one of the loggers. He had no idea we were there until we tried to get into iphone camera range. I wish I had a picture....maybe next time!

It received lots of attention last winter and throughout the spring. These are the first buck pictures of 2018. I'm hoping some of the 3-year-olds made it through last season but these guys look pretty young.

Plenty of mayapple around, I hear the deer in my area feed heavily on them when they ripen later in the summer.

I recently discovered mayapples as well and found out what a good source for deer food they are. Funny thing is in all the different woods I've hunted, I can't recall ever seeing them until I bought my place. Good find!

Success! My cousin sent this picture of a logging road I planted in early May. I was seriously concerned all the rain in the past few weeks washed the seed away. The monsoon rains couldn't have been better timed for the Northern Whitetail Crab trees I planted.

Nice pictures and nice mineral lick. My licks are being hit hard right now, but it won't be long until they slow down on it for the rest of the year.

It is very interesting that deer lose interest in minerals certain times of the year. It will be fun tracking their preference on our property. I have four mineral sites with trail cameras on our ~100 acres and will likely add a few more next month as we hope to add a neighboring property. More to follow on that later.

Last week was a big week for us. We had our property surveyed and despite the crazy rains the crew finally wrapped things up. It's a huge investment but I'm really glad we decided to get it done early. Most of the GIS map borders weren't even close. The survey included a really great overhead photo made possible by drone. The picture quality is so good I can see blue 5 gallon buckets at the base of my apple and chestnut trees!

We also entered into a contract on a neighboring property; We close in 10 days!

Update with more pictures coming soon, we'll be camping on the property in early July.

Good deal! An updated survey is something I'd like to get done on my place as well.

Congrats on the addition!

Congrats on the purchase of adjoining property! Did the same 1 year after my original purchase. Looking back...one of the best decisions I made.
