House and Habitat build thread:

8.0...

Already have the block, heads, twin dominator intake...need cam and rotating assembly...
10's are fast... 9's are really fast... 8's are crazy fast! What compression will you end up running? Doing any work on the heads (yourself)?

14:1 compression. Heads and intake are CNC ported to 400 CFM intake, offset shaft rockers, titanium intake and exhaust valves, beehive springs, titanium retainers...

Took the boy on his Christmas present today; stripers on Texoma. Either one of our's first trip to the lake. Lots of fun!

Those things fight like crazy...used to catch them in the lower Illinois river with my Papaw. Man I miss him...

I bet your boys loved that trip!

I've fished the upper for sandbass many times and the lake for crappie... but never the lower. I bet they do fight like crazy in that current! You could go back with your grandkid and relive some memories...
Only got to take the older kid but he did love it! Lots of fun.

You eat those things too? I don't know anything about them.
First time catching them, but yes they will get eaten. We didn't keep many as the limit on big one's is only 2 apiece. Most that we caught were longer than that... not a bad problem to have when you have to throw back 40+ fish because they were too big.

Did you get into any blues or was it too cold? You caught some nice ones
No blues. Blues were the original fish he wanted to go after but as we shopped for a guide he shifted to stripers. Have you been down there after blues? I would really like to spend a day catching big cats! In fact I was a little disappointed we chose a stripers instead of blues.

Spring update:
Finding some cool sheds. This one is from a deer I shot 3 yrs ago, so the shed has been laying there for at least 4yrs. I'm pretty certain it's a match. Also, not a chew mark on it!

No history with this deer, just had good mass.

This is a shed off a deer I watched a lot over the summer. He has decent mass and great inside kickers. He breaks them off shortly after velvet though so if I ever want to shoot him with kickers on I think it will have to be early season. I was glad to find this shed to know that he made it through winter! Should be a good buck in a year or two!

Only planted 3 trees so far; 2 types of jujube and a chestnut (thanks Buckdeer1!). I have a bunch of stuff started in pots that I'll plant this fall.

The boys and their buddies have been fishing every chance they get. The oldest drug up a 7lb'r a couple of weeks ago. I'm falling short on fishing, been busy doing other things. Hope to catch a mess of crappie sometime in the next 2 weekends (if I don't spend my spare time mushroom hunting).

Turkeys are gobbling every morning and evening! Starting to see a lot of jakes and toms roaming around. Won't be long before they are in full swing!

One thing I love about KS is the burning season. I haven't burned what I wanted to yet but it's always pretty neat when it seems like the whole county is burning. It makes for some beautiful night driving.

Lucky! We didn’t get any yet, and the cold snap is here...

I don't think the cold snap is going to hurt them. I think the ground will retain it's temp pretty well for the next few days. If anything I hope it slows it down from getting too hot and extends the season another week. Maybe I'm just optimistic. :)
We had looked Sunday evening and they were not up yet, so these had just popped.
