House and Habitat build thread:

Dang I hate mange! Its not even a really effective way to control adult coyotes as they seem to survive for a long time with mange. Mangey coyotes dont make anything but fertilizer. We had mange real bad here about 10 years ago. I have only killed one this year that had a touch too much mange on the belly to sell on the fur market but I will tan him and sell him in the taxidermy shop to someone. The rest of mine have been mange free! I am about done putting up my coyotes from my week of calling and snaring so I will post a picture sometime soon.

That robin is cool. I swear I have had the same robin set up shop at my house the last 2-3 years. It has a white spot on its tail feathers so it seems to be pretty distinguishable from the others around.
How many did you get? What will they bring ya per pelt?

Any pics of your shop? I've never had a mount done but I love to see people's shops.

Could be the same robin, they do migrate... How wild would that be!

DOC's are looking great. I planted two per pot, going to have to thin them.

Concordia acorns are just starting to show top growth. I didn't have a lot of faith in them as they were dry little things and several molded, but I think I'll get 5 trees out of the handful I planted which is great!

The first 6 sawtooth I planted are growing like weeds. The 18 I planted a couple of weeks later are at 100%, or near 100% radical rate.

I got 10 in a weeks length of time. That was running about 3 dz snares and probably calling 10 times/stands. More than I actually had thought I would as I only had 2 separate sites set with snares for the entire week, added 1 site for about 4 days. I usually figure 4 coyotes per location is about the most I will take when everything goes right. Wished I would have had alot more snares prepared once I got rolling, forgot how much I enjoyed doing it! Its been probably 5 years since I had done any major coyote trapping/calling. I have had kids in high school for that long so just havent had the time to devote. I am hoping for a $35 average for the bunch. Got one $70 one in the pile and probably a couple of $50s so it might be a bit more.I might post a picture of the shop sometime, its nothing too fancy!

You got that price this year?Great a local guy that traps probably has around 50 so maybe the price will stay up

Sounds like a great week Turkey! I'm with buckdeer that $35 average would be very good.
Post your pics, I love to see dead things.

Unfortunately somebody is going to have to tell me why I cant get pictures to upload here. I guess that was one reason I havent on here. Over on HabitatTalk which appears to be the same forum design I have no problem. I just get an error message that says "There was a problem uploading your file"

No idea why it isn't working for you. I use tapatalk for all my pics now, it's a lot easier for me and doesn't seem to have "many" problems.

I guess I didnt know that Tapatalk was enabled on this site. I will try again today. I am a holdout and dont have a smart phone, but I did use the Ipad to take the pictures.

On both sites you get that error alot of the time even when it posts,I was getting when file was large so I shrunk them.I wish I could figure out how to get them both to stop sending me emails

That cat looks good!
Do you ever get antler envy with people bringing you big bucks all the time? I can't get enough of antlers, I'm afraid I wouldn't want to give some of the cooler mounts back.

Not so much on the envy, always have a couple of favorites though each year. In all honesty when you are staring at antlers all day, most days, they all kind of blend together! Somebody will say "What did you think of so and so's deer?" and in all honesty I cant remember what it even looks like unless I have it in hand. That is not too say that I dont like shooting big deer!! I get the most satisfaction when I know my customers are really happy with their mounts when they pick them up.

He's on the left edge of the shaded spot in the middle of the pic.
I got a good pic of him before he crouched down. Let me drive right on by after taking a couple of pics. Their ability to hide in NOTHING amazes me.

Even outlined in blue I see nothing!

I was in western Oklahoma deer hunting many years ago and I was sitting in a camo bagchair near a wash and I had been sitting there about an hour when I looked a mere 5 yards down into the wash at my feet and I was staring at something that looked like a cat face but I was thinking no way is that a cat. I moved toward it and it busted out of there. It had to be there the entire time hiding in bare dirt...amazing!
