I have a similar situation on some property that has been in my family for 7 generations in the mountains of NC. Just after Covid I had this property clear cut on the top of the mountain and we left the sides of the mountain forested. Up there I have a lot of white pine, chestnut oaks, and hemlocks. I’m in the process now of stumping with a track loader with a backhoe on it (older JD 450C).
I need to build similar attachments like you made in both the root rake and land plane. If you are interested in selling either one, I would be interested in buying them from you?
If not, I did not know if you had any plans you went by or if you just measured and welded?
I’ve looked at some of the local manufacturers around where I live and the products they have look I would break them the first use. I like how sturdy you made these you have and know the heavier the better.
Once I get my place leveled out the way we want. I have my own sawmill and have been in the process of sawing logs for a log cabin I am building on this property. The rest I’m going back in and planting white oaks. I drew this house plan myself for the log cabin I am building and made a rendering of what it will look like built.
The front of the home will have 3 dog houses with a 12’ wide wraparound porch; the back of the home is where the the peak is and will be mostly 3/4” glass in metal casing for structural integrity but allows for the best views possible. I’m making this cabin look like the log homes from the early 1800’s and am using all red oak logs. I made me a jig using 1/4 aluminum to cut the dovetails on the logs with a chain saw.
