As close to the dream property as I am going to get, at least for now

Nice Song Dog. I haven't been as lucky. I've actually thought about picking up trapping to knock the population down. A local trapper would love to trap my place but I really don't want additional traffic on the place, or for word of what I'm building to spread. I too am heading north to frost seed some red clover. FYI, Agway has had 50lb bags fairly priced.

uote=CTM1;821669]Managed to get out in the reservoir valley near the house and do some predator hunting. It was slim pickings, but it did give up this female.
One less female dropping a litter of pups come spring that will go on to munch on everything else.

At least you're upstate :)

You just need to drop what you are doing and take a little time for yourself.

Taking a trapping class has been on my want to do list for a long time, but sadly I just never made the time.

You still however have until the 29th to grab your rifle and get out there and try to call in a yote. It is hours of mind numbing calling, but when one pops up it makes it all worth it.

My road is still a glacier with more snow coming Sunday. I should get up there by July

Scored this double roller cultipacker off of Craigslist for $550, it did however require me to make 13 hour round trip to Ohio to get it. The seller was great and made quick work of loading it into the bed of my truck with his Skidsteer.

I had an agreement to buy a disc on the same trip from another Craigslist seller that was an hour further into Ohio. I tell the guy I will be there on Sun and he says great. Well I call the guy on Sat afternoon to confirm a time window and he says "Oh I decided to sell it to someone else earlier today" Glad I called to confirm or I would have taken a trailer with me and wasted another two hours of driving.

The cultipacker purchase is the only postive Craigslist experience I have had to date. The disc seller is now the fourth seller from Craigslist in the last two weeks to fail to live up to their end of agreements. I have had three other people flake on me when I was trying to buy equipment trailers. Hey Craigslist sellers when you put something up for sale and you agree to sell it, you really need to live up to your word, especially when you agree to meet.

A deal should be a deal but more and more it doesn't seem to be that way. Like you I have seen others back out but that is their failure not ours. "A deal is a deal" is a most rewarding code to go by. Pity those who fail to keep their word. And congrats on the purchase of a nice looking cultipacker.

Well another long day in the seat of the truck is over. This one was an eight roundtrip down to Southern NJ to pick up this 6.5' King Kutter with 20" discs. This was another Craigslist deal, thankfully the man was straight to his word and a heck of a nice guy. Fellow hunter with access to some incredible ground, I was super jelly.

The trailer I borrowed was a bit small for this disc so I figured that flipping the disc onto its back would allow it to load and transport better.

At $850 I think I did well.

Nice looking set of discs! :)

Be sure to sharpen them up real good so they can chop up as many rocks as possible! :p

Already on step ahead of you as I am going to embed diamonds into the cutting edges of the discs.

I have that exact set of discs. They work excellent for me. It is a very heavy set of discs for it's size. I do need to carry a bar and sledge hammer for knocking out stuck rocks or wet clay though.

Nice! You and craig are adding some handy equipment for your property.

Congrats--I think you'll find it a better tool for our Catskills rock farms. I think you'll find adding a couple hundred pounds will make it more effective.

Hey Chainsaw,

I hooked up the disc and realized the gangs needed to be set at a more aggressive angle. The fella who sold it to me said it was a simple matter of taking out the center bolt and pushing the metal center mounting blocks forward. Unfortunatley, it did not work out like that, not even a maul could get the blocks to move. I had to take the entire thing apart to move the blocks forward. I looked on the net and found a post from years ago on Tractor.net where a guy had the same issues.

I have looked at a few other discs in vids and their design seems to be much better when it comes to adjusting the angle of the gangs. See pic below as an example, it is a simple matter of pulling a clevis type pin and pushing a handle to get the angle to change.

So how have you been adjusting the them, is there a trick or am I missing something?

Thanks.

I've used that same disc without issue. I wonder if something isn't bent or too tight. I've had to pound on it a few times, but never anything close to taking it apart. If there's a trick, I'm unaware of it.

Wish I had a secret way but don't. I set my disc to be just a little aggressive a long time ago and honestly don't even remember for sure what I did to reset it. Being new when I set it up everything turned easy. It looks like just undo the center bolt and move to a couple of holes away from center.

And I would expect to "gently" use a sledge on it to coax it. First I would spray all the bolts and parts that are touching metal to metal with a penetrating oil like PB blaster and then let it set a day and tap it all over to break up any rust bonds before even trying to adjust it. Once adjusted I don't see a need to change it for me though I could see how some might.

Also leave it to Land Pride to have an easy more friendly way to adjust it. I have two land Pride implements and consider them a step up from most. Maybe pins replacing the center bolts as the Land Pride has would make it easier if you adjusted it often.

Update with some Trail cam pictures.
Empty scrape dripper still gets their attention.
